Man, depends, I am happy with either but probably a good steak pulls ahead a bit.

Steaks are so overrated and boring. Chewy, and tastes meh

on burgers you can put ketchup, bacon, onions etc.

Rare steak, seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic is hard to top, simple but delicious; I will admit it's a lot harder to make a bad burger than a bad steak. Had so many meh steaks from big chains that I usually get something else, they always overcook and over season, like chewing a tire.

It's just food

I can get just as much enjoyment out of a good burger for alot less

I only eat grass fed ,which is $10 a lb by me

It's going to depend on location and personal preference

There was a time in my 30s I was eating porterhouse and filet at least twice a week

It was much cheaper, and those times were fantastic

Now I'm 57 ,I just dont care that much

Your tastes change over time

I voted steak as I am going to assume "well made" extends to picking the best cuts so, in that case, it's really no contest. Unless and this would be my overall preference we are going to take that steak and make it a burger.

A great steak is better than both, but a middle of the road burger is better than just some average steak.

Are folks seriously comparing a burger to a steak?

Burger and fries vs a well made steak with baked potato, mushrooms, broccoli?

A well made good quality steak beats a burger, but the restaurant value proposition of a good burger easily beats a steak.

A good steak can be a 10/10 meal, but you're going to pay for it.

A good burger can be 8.5/10 and you won't notice your wallet being lighter.

At home, I'm not much of a cook so burgers over steak.

Burger, definitely. My best burger is better than my best steak. More opportunities to dress up the burger mean more flavors for your palette.

Mix of srsly hot burger with ice cold toppings is goat, can't be beat

I had a burger from Five Guys once, and I don't plan to do it again. I have no idea what the hype is all about with that. Like pushing $20 for a burger and it tastes like something you could make at home

I'd probably pick burger if it has all the toppings I like. I love a good steak as well though.

Tough call:

one one hand you have the burger: juicy, can be topped with mayo, mushrooms, bacon and cheese on a nice buttered bun

then you have a nice Delmonico ribeye, medium rare, seared and maybe topped with bearnaise sauce and some sort of shrimp/crab.

Burger. Steak is more of a special occasion type of meal, not something I'd want regularly.

I'd put an awesome steak over a burger in taste, but it's so heavy that I couldn't eat it too often. I could drink burgers.

I'll take a good bar burger over a steak almost any day.

I like a steak that is properly made (medium rare, and not cooked up an extra step from what you ask like almost all restaurants do), but it's one of the most overrated foods ever, if I'm being honest. Yeah it's good, but I don't feel like eating all that often or spending the money on it very much, either.

I started buying steaks and running them through the grinder - ribeye chopped steak was fantastic
