Nah everything is there. Costco, a mall, every chain that exists pretty much. It's also close to the nicest beach in Texas.



I actually think it was even cheaper not long ago. I tried talking my wife into moving down there but unfortunately everyone seems to think it's dangerous, including her. San Diego is right on the border too and no one seems to mind. Also, the beaches on South Padre Island > the beaches near San Diego.

Just looked, it probably would have been around $350k before covid.

Ya I just closed on that exact situation in Chicago.

Although I am jelly of the amount of house you can buy in McAllen Texas, I’m never moving to McAllen Texas.

Would rather scrap it out in places with stuff going on, yolo, would have rather lived in Rome than a farm in 250AD

Property taxes suck in Texas, still lower than where I'm from though (Illinois).

Local income doesn't matter if you're remote.
