Any guys in their 40's have TrT success stories to share ?

Kind of feeling fatigued a lot lately. Caffeine doesn't do the trick anymore. :/

Plateauing my lifts. Getting sore like every 3 weeks from body not being as forgiving.

Also hard to keep concentrating for more than 20 minutes or so at work, then my mind will wander.

Can still get a solid woodie, but my stamina isn't what it used to be. Mostly want to just have quickies with my lady and let her ride me most of the time, tbh.

My buddy told me to hop on the TrT train. He said his energy levels and concentration went through the roof. Said he would take his misses to pound town every night and lasted an hour++. He said his T levels were of a 75yo and on TrT they were of an 18yo or something like that.

Cost is like $150/month or so (got a few quotes) after blood work and initial consultation which ranges from $300-$2000 (why such a large gap for upfront costs?)....not sure what insurance will cover but w/o insurance it's in my budget anyway. I don't know what my current T levels are.

Is it worth the money or are the benefits over exaggerated?

My buddy swears the results are legit.

I lift 5-6 days a week typically for 1.5hrs, progressive overload. I'm fairly lean and athletic looking. The other 1-2 days of the week I either rest or run on a treadmill. I don't really want to do it for aesthetics, however I'll take those benefits too. Primarily since I'm feeling sore more frequently, and platouing more often, so gains are starting to be harder to obtain.

I'll check that sub. Repped.

Not the same for everybody or they're going somewhere that keeps their number really high. The 2 places I've been won't let your T get over 800. It didn't do anything for me really other than libido increase, which wasn't needed. I've argued with everyone I've ever dated/married about sex frequency my entire life and trt made it even higher. It made maybe a 10% difference to overall mood/energy. By mood, I mean a manly feeling b/c your ratio of test/e is better. Gym workouts have about 10-20% more energy/intensity, but nothing crazy.

I didn't have any side effects of low T when I went, and when I started the treatment, I didn't notice much difference at all either. My avi is from 7 years ago and I look exactly the same, maybe not as lean around my midsection b/c I'm 46 now, but size of arms is the same.

I imagine those people on reddit never lifted until TRT or are taking other things or use the opportunity to really lock their down diet and gym consistency. It is motivating to know your T is where it needs to be and you just have to put in work. I really thought it was going to be a breakthrough for me, but nope.

I started in 2011 at age 34. My test was 135. I did it until 2017, then took a break for about 4 years then got back on in 2021 and have been on since.

Keep looking at clinics OP. They range in price DRASTICALLY. I have seen some $400/month, but I go for weekly injections at $25/each. If you live in a decent sized area you should have lots of options.

Yes, been on for 2 years and am glad I did/do it. Mental clarity, energy levels, well-being, assertiveness, and body comp are all improved. Never really had an issue with libido but even had a god bump there and can go two rounds pretty much every day if I want, sometimes 3.

You need to be smart with your protocol though and get treatment from someone who knows what they’re doing…and you also do your own research beforehand. Can answer any questions you want. Negatives I would say are possibly some anxiety starting out as body gets used to new higher levels, some acne, and reaper slightly accelerates his march. All the positives way more than make up for any negatives though.

Your avi (you look lean and defined) is from 2016 which means you were on trt for 5 years. And prior to TRT your level was 135, so I highly doubt you would like like you do in your avi without TRT. If you did though, let me know. I'm just assuming.

Miscers will complain about lack of energy and muscle loss and hop on TRT, but won’t lift consistently, eat healthy or sleep 8 hours every night

I'm going to do blood work first. It's part of the process at the places I called so they dose appropriately. Blood work, consultation then script.

No I've been lifting regularly for 10+ years. 5-6x's/week and Ive always eaten very healthy. No soda, junk food, processed sugar (minus 1 teaspoon with coffee in the morning). Not really doing this for physique improvement/muscle gain. I seem to be platouing more recently, but I think it's more related to soreness/minor tendon/nerve type injuries than muscle. I'll take a few days off when that happens. I sleep 7 hours each night, don't snore, etc...

Hop on the train bro. It is 100% worth it. I was trying to hold out until my 50s and that was just stupid. First thing I noticed was that I slept like a dead log again. And then my gym numbers started to come back. Warn your lady upfront though. You're going to need to blast like you were in your 20s and it won't go away.

No way should an initial consult cost thousands. $150 on average for bloodwork and test, and anything you need to get your hormones legit is fair.

I think this is true for a lot of guys. I know it makes a huge difference for some, and they are low even though they appear to be doing everything right. It's still crazy to me how much it's blown up over the last several years. On the other hand, research studies are showing that testosterone levels in men have dropped a ton over time.

OP: I have a good buddy who was tired all the time and had a daughter diagnosed as hypothyroid. He went in and got tested and found out he was, too. Proper treatment made a world of difference to him. Just saying I wouldn't jump to conclusions and you should get some blood work as suggested.

Ive been on for a couple years.

Went to primary care doc, she did bloodwork, test was low 400s she got me a script. Insurance covers every 12 week cycle and its $21 per 12 week. If my hematocrit gets high I have to give blood. My last blood work my test lvl showed >1500.

Everybody has a different experience, the things ive noticed.

Sex drive is the same, nothing changed.
Energy lvls are higher ~35%.
Zero rest days needed, I get sore from workouts but can workout the next day with no issues.
Better sleep but I also cut out caffeine.

Damn I'm on fin/minox . Been fighting tooth and nail to keep my hairline where it is (receded and thin, but with a slight comb over hardly noticable...or at least my hairline "looks" appropriate for my age)

I can deal with anxiety getting started on it and I've never had acne but am sure I can manage that.

My hairline tho lol... Might have to fly to Turkey if it gets any worse.

Hard to say b/c I hadn't been serious about my lifting AND diet for a long time before TRT. The reason I needed TRT (I think) is because I was told to take these pills that I didn't know were a prohormone. I was pretty new to everything and I didn't even know what a ph was. I had weird side effects, so I went back to the nutrition store and he gave me an OTC e blocker which, of course, didn't work. I developed gyno and started to do more research about what I put into my body after that.
My lean-ness went up and down during that 5 years and it peaked in avi. It wasn't a culmination at all. The reason I'm still fairly lean is b/c I started Keto and now do it part time. Keto has been amazing for me to stay lean. It has made a MUCH bigger difference that TRT has.

Like I was saying being on TRT helps motivate you to be consistent in the gym and with your diet b/c you know you have the foundation. I'm not saying it's done nothing for me, but it was years after I started that I took that pic. And that was from me being very dedicated to a good diet for several months and cardio.

I mentioned in another thread I know someone who's blood pressure went up to stroke levels on trt. He was taking half the dose his doc recommended ( I think about 200mg a week). Then 1/4. But his bp kept rising.
He also said his balls shrunk to the size of grapes.

After a year he got off it.

If you prioritize hair that much and are already losing it then you should be fully prepared for that. I would never touch fin, and I’d say that may be part of your problem as it wrecks DHT levels and can cause tons of issues.

Same thing happened to me as i didnt have a good experience with it in the year i was taking the doses.

What they dont tell you is that you will most likely have to donate blood ever 90 days due to increased RBC counts, which increases BP.

My levels went from 330 to 800's and i couldnt tell the difference besides morning wood every day and the massive weight gain in 4 months with severe bloating.

Waning off of it was a pain as well, roller coaster emotions.

Yes, i was lifting and sleeping during this.

Anyone constantly donating blood is probably actually making the problem worse. Reason being is that when you donate blood your body recognizes that and goes into “holy sh!t we need more red blood cells” mode. So it ramps up production to get you back there as soon as possible. Then you get back to a slightly elevated level and dump it again, and the process repeats. Your body ends up in a constant state of generating as many RBCs as possible. Meanwhile it’s white likely you’d be alright with slightly elevated levels. People at higher elevations have higher levels due to adaptation. People who exercise and ask more oxygen transportation of their body have higher levels as an adaptation. But for some reason if they get even marginally increased on TRT people freak out. Best thing to do is stay hydrated at all times which will lower levels(good advice for everyone anyway) and just make sure it doesn’t get too crazy. I do donate blood once, sometimes twice per year just to help and because a small amount can actually be good. But constantly donating is pretty terrible.

Went on TRT and got a blood clot in my lung within a few months of starting, it could of easily killed me.

Off now but may go on again with more testing to confirm it was the T that made me clot.
