Luther was mad at his father and trying to get away with being a crook.

Catholicism is a little idealistic since it's hard to do when so few others around follow the rules.

I feel like if there is a provision around Catholicism, it would allow children from more than one partner, IF you can afford to provide for the children from either partner, first.

Most palatable disagreements are around nuclear families failing.

There is probably better material out there than I can come up with from memory in 3 seconds about Luther.

1 point is he criticized the church for some members taking bribes. Great, except the alternative of not having any structure just means every guy will take even more corruption with even less oversight. Like saying anarchy is better than government because the government was not 100% responsible in the past. They do seek more responsible justice, now.

Protestants do not even have coherent social positions.

I think Catholic ideas at least maintain a canon of wisdom. I think elections are essential. Catholic structure is more responsible than Orthodox or Protestant. It's possible a better system exists. The smartest people have tried for a long time and not done very well at beating it.

I think the main reason anyone disagrees with Catholicism is they want to have casual sex.

Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy are the closest to what the church fathers would have been.

Around the time of Paul how many different groups or sects do scholars think there were?

Protestantism gave us some decent life lessons and philosophy, but Protestantism hasn't contributed much to art, culture or music.

I'd say Protestantism hindered culture and art - examples the Puritans and Quakers who are drab, dull and uninteresting.

I honestly still don't know much about that whole subject (beyond the very basics). It's something I should dig into at some point.

I always found it odd how it seemed like protestantism only ever got huge in the U.S. when it was originally a European thing.

Unless you count the Church of England as protestant, which I don't really.

Because protestants and particularly puritans fled catholic europe to freely practice their religion.

Idk much about the theology, but protestantism is closer to the 'true' meaning of Christianity whereas Catholicism was a blend of Christianity and native European paganism.

Martin Luther’s obvious problems were pretty common sense, the Catholic Church was just letting people buy in and pay for whatever they wanted from the church lol. It was nothing but corruption.

Protestants don’t like the fact that the Catholic Church put other humans between man and God. BRB only the priest can read and interpret the Bible for a person, brb making the pope a semi-god and worshipping at the alter of Mary.
