Is depression/mental illness just cope for being lazy and mentally weak?
Everyone on earth has moments where they're sad and things aren't going their way. 99% of the time, people get over it
It sucks but you get over it. Your dog dies? Yeah that's sad but just be normal and move on
Yeah i know people say it's some chemical imbalance in the brain but to me that's a chicken and egg scenario. Is being sad causing the chemical imbalance or is it the chemical imbalance making you sad?
The way i see it, it's just a bunch of rabbis making money on the mentally retarded by selling antidepressants which they have to take for life and turns them into lifeless unfeeling wageslaves

Maybe in some cases. But many people out there have been severely traumatized in ways hard to imagine for people who haven't experienced it themselves. In such cases mental illness is just a natural, understandable response to extreme circumstances.

No. I get severe chest and stomach pain, along with the feeling of buzzing bees in my body and burning skin like I have a fever from anxiety. It’s miserable.
When I’m depressed I can barely get out of bed and don’t notice the world around me.

But yea OP...pretty much. Most cases are just excuses and inability to handle the stressors and hard problems in life. Instead of fighting it internally/mentally and externally with things like diet, sleep, exercise, habits, most people choose the easiest and most comfortable path with things like pills and therapy. That just engrains it even more.

absolutely
it appears that people are under the impression that their lives are supposed to be filled to the brim with happiness and good feelings all of the time
that is not a realistic expectation to have, and I think that further amplifies their negative mentalities and perspectives of the world around them that they have

Idk mane. I have depression and maybe I am mentally weak, but I think it’s something different than that that’s the affliction.

How did they get through life and you can't without massive amounts of therapy and pills.
Only thing you have in common with them is the kind of build well suited to working a plow

I don't know that taking control of your life will completely cure depression but it will alleviate much of it.
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

I’d be taking care of my babies and cooking.
And I wouldn’t be alive at my age now, so it’s silly to compare modern times to that.

I think the human mind is a fragile and complicated thing. I think a lot of people with “depression” would benefit immensely from eating healthy, exercising, getting sunlight, socializing and finding meaningful work. Would solve a ton of cases of it
I also think differences in brain chemistry along with traumatic events or challenges do affect some people to the degree that it would be classified as depression.
don’t agree with medication for like 90% of cases I think it’s poison
