My thoughts were to play it a bit at launch and see how it is and if it's ass, the Cyberpunk DLC is right around the corner and I can play that for a while until Starfield gets it's chit together.

No it's not the same for me. I'm in Australia and the price is $119.95 AUD. Other new AAA releases are between $80 and $100.

Maybe it's the same price as usual in the US. I don't know why this one game would be more expensive.

I would suggest buying games from other countries. It's almost half the price from the Turkish store.

They're digital goods - there can literally never be a shortage. All you do is reward dipschit studios until they're selling you a fraction of the game and macro-transactioning you the rest over several years.

Same here, and I rememberagesago when I had heard rumors of a sci-fi Bethesda open world RPG. But back then I'm pretty sure just about everyone was thinking Elder Scrolls in Space with playable alien races and all the potential of taking the already alien magic of settings like Morrowind or The Shivering Isles, dialing it up to 11, and shootingthatoff into space. We had already seen a story driven space RPG through Mass Effect, but this would be an unrestrained, Bethesda opengalaxy, taking all of the racial and geopolitical politics of The Elder Scrolls to a whole other level.

What we got instead is Starfield, which seemsfine, but I gotta be honest and say that after what they've shown, it still seems to lack some sort of ineffablespark. I definitely don't think that it helps how Bethesda has only continued to dumb down their games since the time when a sci-fi Bethesda RPG was a rumor, and so far they appear to be continuing that trend.

I don't know how else to put it, but there just seems to be something missing - at least for me, and it overall strikes me as almost generic with very little standing out or setting it apart despite how bloody long this thing has been in the oven. For how much TES borrows from standard fantasy tropes, they still managed to twist it into something so unique and distinctive, while Starfield - at least from what they were willing to show - is practicallyblandby comparison; even the concept art looks like the most generic-ass, sci-fi fluff. I can't tell you a single thing about it that genuinely stands out past the surface level Bethesda RPG but in space. On one hand, that could be down to them keeping their cards arguably too close to their chest, or on the other, they haven't shown much because they aren't willing to for more cynical reasons.

If I had to pick one thing, it's the spaceship side surprised me with how much more interesting it came across over everything else, but then in the back of my mind I think of how it's a means to an end to explore half-empty rocks in space to collect more rocks, and fly off to some inevitably disappointing Bethesda City that I'll have to wait for modders to flesh out several years from now.

In essence, I'm just not feeling that sort of Bethesda magic of old, and instead a whole lot of bad lessons from Fallout 4/76 + No Man's Sky. It all seems absolutelyfine, and I'd prefer to be wowed by how amazing the game really is, but I'm just not feeling it, and I attribute much of that to how they've marketed it.

These are facts but I preordered Horizon DLC because I will 100% buy it anyway, and pre-ordering gave me some bonus gear which is unavailable otherwise.

For sure, I don't see an issueifyou are going to be buying it 100% regardless. I did that with Iceborne because I already bought Monster Hunter World and knew I'd be playing the expansion. Similar deal with actually special, limited editions where there actually is a quantity available for a set time. Plus, some companies are straight up reliable for quality and consistency that others cannot remotely match.

But if it's a game like Starfield where who even knows how it will be, or frankly 90% of games these days that release unfinished with shoddy performance, just wait for reviews. Part of the reason they shove crap out the door is because people rewarded them before the product was even done, and now we're reaping the consequences of that.
