sounds a lot like the polls saying that black people were more conservative leaning than ever in 2020...only to vote 90%+ in favor of the democrat.

gotta look at how the poll was conducted. If a young person is politically active enough to participate in a poll discussing their political affiliation in a non-election year then yeah, they're probably conservative leaning, but all of the other GenZ kids that don't care about politics until October of the election year (low information voters) are going to vote liberal by default.

Young people in general seem to either go hard left or hard right, not too many in between. I used to consider myself a liberal in high school when I didn't know **** about the world and social dynamics
