What game is your GOTY?

The other retard forgot to put Armored Core VI and of course BG3 as an option...

It's the highest scoring game OF ALL TIME on opencritic, the highest rated PC game of all time on metacritic and by far the highest rated title this gen on metacritic.





EDIT: I'm also retarded, I forgot to add Spider man 2 but only have poll option of max 10 choices.

FF16, but only because I haven't given BG3 a fair enough chance yet and the story in FF16 captivated me. I predict it will be BG3 after more time with it though.

Diablo 4 is my #3 pick. It had a sweeter taste and was fun at first, but it's not aging well for me. Season 2 / 3 has to be insane for me to consider more time on it.

Just seeing this question reminds me of how few games I've played since 2023 started. Just God of War Ragnarok, The Quarry, Hogwarts Legacy, Vampire Survivors, Life is Strange, the Burning Shores DLC for Horizon FW, Diablo 4, and that's pretty much it.

In retrospect, maybe that's a lot.

Anyways, my personal GOTY so far is Hogwarts. The immersion was phenomenal. My gf is the most ADHD person I know, and this game kept her deeply undistracted the whole time. Minus the quidditch stuff, the game was literally everything you could want in a Harry Potter game.

Before 2023 is over, I'm still planning to knock out: Deathloop (leaving ps+ on sept 15 but will remain on gamepass), Call of Duty Black Ops campaign, NFS Unbound, SW Jedi Survivor, and Mafia 2. I'm not falling for the tricks of playing Starfield early - gonna let it get patched up plenty before I hop on. Also grinding out season 1 of Diablo4.

Have not played BG3 and might not before end of year. So for me, it's Hogwarts Legacy. Have rarely sat down and actually WANTED to finish a game along with a lot of the side quests, and I played that a lot in the first bit right after it came out.

Just waiting for Jedi Survivor, Dead Space, Diablo 4 and Dead Island 2 to drop in price and then will be picking all those up. Also expecting that Spider Man 2 will be GOTY worthy as well.

gotta be BG3 for me. I feel like a kid again, cant put the game down, sacrificing a couple hours of sleep to play a bit more, and go to sleep thinking about it and firing it up first thing in the morning.

reminds me of skyrim and dragon age origins on launch when i was younger, when id have entire summer days to play and thats all id do. max degen rot autist mode. ill be sad when i beat BG3 over but glad it happened.

Surprised at how many saying hogwarts. Good game but after the initial 'holy fuk they made hogwarts perfectly' game isn't really anything special.

Opposite for me. I could only do RE4 once. Same goes for other dark games with limited visibility. I will definitely play again but I need more time in between. I found the gameplay decent but not as dynamic or varied as I'd like. I played TLOU2 just a couple months earlier and the gameplay on that felt much more satisfying.

Finally, I know many might call me wild for saying this but I think I enjoyed RE Village more overall.

Dunno really, probably battlebit remastered for me personally.

15 dollars, low poly bf2 clone with full destruction physics, classic progression system, no microtransactions. Proximity voice chat, 128vs128, Very small dev team passion project. The kinda game i just love to see and support.

Not sure it really counts, it's early access still I think.

Let's take a step back and recognize how much "holy fuk they made hogwarts perfectly" is a big deal. It's a massive accomplishment.


Ack, y'know what - that reminds me that 2023 has been a stellar year for video game music. Hogwart's game music was phenomenal, as was Diablo 4s and FF16

When most games are a disaster at launch, having a game of that scope be basically perfect out of the box is a massive accomplishment.

Looking forward to seeing what they come up with for DLC because the options are massive.

Only played Hogwarts and BG3 from that list so... BG3.

Starfield isn't even out yet and while the crusty basement dwellers will say it's the best thing since sliced bread we all know it's going to be a bug-ridden mess until the community patch and mods get going.

For me it was Hogwarts, still waiting on BG3 release on PS5.

FFXVI- Although the story was great, the game felt like a chore to play.

Yea I'm not saying its a bad game. Its a good game and the world is amazing but like I said after you get beyond that the gameplay, missions etc arent that great. Good but in this year absolutely no way in hell GOTY imo

The Re 4 Remake was definitely # 1 so far, but I hope Spider-man 2 will take the crown for me. I also am currently playing through FFXVI & it's also one of the best games I've ever played. Fuking phenomenal year for games. Possibly best ever...
