i assume this is in america, but in the UK you see plenty of signs warning your with prison sentances and massive fines if you go onto train tracks. and this is probably why. they dont want to clean your cooked corpse off the track

I know the vid you're talking about. They were right not to jump in. They would've ended up like the second guy and just drowned. Those waters looked placid but there is a major undercurrent, plus if you attempt to help someone drowning, chances are high they will just drown you too.

But for the full story on that, white guy that jumped in second paid first black guy to jump in to retrieve a piece of driftwood you can see in the vid that he wanted for furniture. Bystanders eventually guilted white guy to jump in and help after black guy got in trouble, then black guy ended up drowning already struggling white guy before drowning himself.

Electricity will always take the path of least resistance. And providing it doesn’t arc, needs a complete circuit to travel. If you were wearing shoes that had good electrical insulation such as rubber you’d be ok to grab with with one hand. If you grab with two hands the circuit would complete and run through your heart - not good.

Best thing to do in this situation is quickly look for an emergency stop button for the 3rd rail. If there isn’t one in site find a large none conductive object. A large stick would do just fine, in electrical switchboard we use big plastic hooks. Knock the person off of where they are connected.

If no emergency stop or large non-conductive object in sight the last resort would be to drop kick the person, I’m being serious. You have little time before they’re dead. Being drop kicked is far better than dead.

Of all the things you read on misc this is one to remember. You might need this to save someone’s life one day.

the way the article I saw was worded and the fact that the dude was in cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived and his future prognosis is "unknown" makes me think he's probably a vegetable

I bet their parents will sue the transit authorities claiming that they did not have enough guard rails or barriers to prevent their kids from sitting on the tracks. They did it here in NYC with kids getting killed subway surfing and parents are like, "Oh! The MTA didn't have enough barriers that's why my kid is dead!".

Did some digging and doesn’t sound good for sure.

Not dead or they would have said.

Depends how long he was in cardiac arrest for and not getting oxygen to his brain and the extent of the internal burns he received. My guess is brain damage or serve internal burns.

I hadn’t read the extent of there injuries but after finding articles yea he not in a good way.
