I spent almost 2 weeks there to scout the area for a new home that I will be buying. I'm just trying to figure it out with the wife whether we want to do it now or later (both options will be in cash.
I mostly hung out on northern Kentucky and Cincinnati.
I did spend 2 days driving around the city's "suburbs" to scout the area. I have come to the conclusion that the west and south are ghetto and I will not be moving to those areas.
This city opened my eyes to the reality of dead malls. I see images of them occasionally when I listen to vaporwave, but I didn't think the situation was really that bad.
I'm from Temecula, and the mall there (and in other places in San Diego county) are booming and bustling.
The Temecula one is the best I have been to. Both malls I visited in Florence and Northgate were absolutely dead. There was like 2 restaurants in the food court and the Florence one was a little better, but there was maybe like 20 people total. The Temecula one has like a couple hundred daily, so that was just whack.

I did go to the Cincinnati Art Museum, but it's not what I was expecting. I liked the ancient Middle East and Asian exhibits, but most of it wasn't that interesting. Fortunately, we did find some places that had a tour guide. We both love the tour guides since it's a better experience overall.
My part of the trip was driving around and walking around the area to get a feel for it. That was the only part I cared about.
My wife decided all the venues since that stuff is more important to her than it is to me.
Overall, Ohio has won me over. My wife was crying when we got back to California because she says it's so depressing over here. We were stuck in traffic for a long ass time trying to get home.

That was not true at all.

It turns out Cincinnati is easier on the skin than California.
In California, my wife would step out to go for a walk, and she would burn after a 1 hr walk.
In Cincinnati, we walked around for a while exposed to the sun, and we did not burn at all. The humidity seems to protect our skin from the sun (which I didn't realize was a thing).
I was told that the humidity would be intolerable and that I wouldn't be able to breathe, but no. It felt so much better being in Ohio. The air is clean, the hills have actual "forest" and everything is so green. The air has a wet smell to it.
Dry Nevada and Arizona heat suck compared to Cincinnati weather. I swear Cincinnati has better weather than SoCal. I love the rain and we got random showers every now and then (I think we were in Kentucky, but I don't remember which state exactly), and we never in danger of heat stroke.
It sucks I wasn't able to experience the snow Cincinnati gets, but it shouldn't be that much of a problem since I really want to experience snow that isn't in the observatory on Big Bear(?)
The outskirts of Cincinnati (I guess it really wouldn't be Cincy since those towns have actual names) has really nice houses that I can buy in cash. And the backyards are huge. I saw gardens and chit like that. I really wish to be able to do that in the future.

You came back where from Ohio from California?
Maybe learn English? I think you're trying to say you came back to California from Ohio but I'm not 100% on that.

All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

TEmecula is actually pretty nice.
I can't move to Temecula unless I want to risk it all on my remote job, but even then I wouldn't be able to afford a house in cash, and I would be forced to take out a mortgage. My parents were pretty dirt poor when I was younger, so we just bounced from apartment to apartment, and they never owned a house.
There are a few reasons why Cincinnati would beat Temecula that are important to me.
1) driving from Temecula to San Diego or Los Angeles for work would be brutal. I know there are jobs in Temecula, but they aren't plentiful. My wife's supervisor drives from Murrieta to San Diego and it takes her almost 2 hours. I don't want a long commute if I happen to lose my job.
2) I hate the desert, Cincinnati is very green around the area.
3) the pay is legit on par between Cincinnati and San Diego. The big difference is that Cincinnati is dirt cheap by comparison on housing.
4) Social things to consider. If you move here. California has ghetto Mexicans all over the place. Mexicans mixed in with ghetto Mexicans makes it impossible to tell which areas are safe. In Cincinnati, there are only blacks and whites. White neighborhoods were 100% safe. I did not feel like I was in danger while walking into them. One small town had a lot of dilapidated buildings, but I walked around and felt safe and not in danger.
BUT west and south Ohio have lots of ghetto looking black people that I do not want to be around. I was paying a parking toll with my wife and this dude runs up with his tattoos and is literally right behind me and asks for money. As long as you stay out of that area, you will meet normal non hood black people.
I was surprised to read that the Northgate mall was looted by the neighborhood in 2019 (?). Inside the mall, they have a police department which I thought was strange until I read about that online.

Sports teams are fun and passionate (reds, bengals), Kings Island was fun, people are nice and down to earth and not libcucked
But at the same time it's pretty trashy, chit weather, and you're in still in bumfuk midwest. Can't see how anyone would want to live there if they weren't born and raised.

Also the worst traffic in Cincinnati is the equivalent of a Saturday drive in California.
There is no traffic. The worst traffic we experienced was on the bridge from Cincinnati to Kentucky.
In Cincinnati and Kentucky, 1 mile = 1 minute
In California, 1 mile = 3 to 6 minutes depending on traffic.
So a 100 mile drive in Ohio during the week, took me 1hr and 40 minutes about.
A 20 mile drive in California during the week takes around 1hr to 2hrs depending on how bad traffic is.
On the way to the airport in California to go to Ohio, it was so slow, I left 5hrs before boarding, and I arrived with 40 minutes to spare and somehow we made it to the plane.
Me driving from Columbus to Cincinnati was shorter than my commute to work.
Also gas in CA is like ~$5.60
In OH and KY, it's $3.59.
Also another thing I noticed. In CA, minimum wage is $15, and nearly all places offer minimum wage and ask for ability to speak Spanish.
In OH, minimum wage is $10.10, and I saw so many help wanted signs offering $17 and even $20 per hour.
That's like if California has jobs for almost $30 for a low skill job!

Cincinnati is an ok city. I’ve been to every single city in Ohio and Cincy is probably the best objectively but Cleveland is my favorite.

I want to have a family and homeschool my kids.
If it means anything my wife is also straight up pro-God, anti-abortion, anti-clot shot, pro-gun. I do not believe the state of Ohio is racist at all.
California is chit my friend.
Just a small thing too, but In Ohio, people actually pronounce my name correctly. In California, it's always (I mean fooking always) with some fake ****** accent.
