What is more important to you?

living in a small apartment/studio/etc in a rich, white neighborhood with absolutely zero crime? Or a mansion in a chithole surrounded by joggers?

Nice area first. 600 sqft is a lot of real estate for an incel. I wouldn't need more than that. At 900 sqft, a lot of space is going unused.

Outside of extremes where the small apartment does not meet minimal living requirements or the big place allows some niche lifestyle, the nice neighborhood.

I'm torn on this too OP.

For $450k I could get a decent modern house in a town that's considered the outskirts of a fairly major city, but I would have to compromise on a few things that I'd prefer in a house. Or for $450k I could get a spacious designer dream home in a chitty area like McAllen Texas on the border of Mexico, subject to immigrants hopping my fence.

People always say "location, location, location" or "location is key," when it comes to real estate. It's the mantra I've heard ever since I was a kid, and I presume it remains to be true. I mean 2009 in SoCal you could've bought a house for $400k, and now it's actually worth over $1m.
