logic question for only the very highest iq miscers srs

no tradie morons please


two lanes merge into one on a freeway. Assume trafic is the same speed whether its in the restricted part or not.

will you be through the restriction any quicker if

a) cars merge 200 yards before the end of the second lane
b) cars wait until the last few yards to merge

i fully expect this thread to reach the length of can a plane take off from a conveyor belt question..

All of this seems irrelevant next to that one sentence. It seems easier to hear that people are afraid to merge than "I'm pretty sure Muriel is anorexic" or the singer on the radio crying out about magnetic waves. Nothing else seems to matter to me but those ten words. Not the warm winds, which seem to propel the car down the empty asphalt freeway, or the faded smell of marijuana which still faintly permeates Blaire's car. All it comes down to is the fact that I'm a boy coming home for a month and meeting someone whom I haven't seen for four months and people are afraid to merge.”

Buy a large truck with dented bumpers, which signals you have no fear and are a complete psycho. People will get out of your way when you merge. Biggest vehicle wins.

The same number of vehicles pass through the restriction per hour.

If you had a 50 lane motorway merging to 1 Lane, would it be any faster than a 4 lane motorway merging to 1?

The zipper thing makes the queue half as long, so that can free up junctions that are close to the restriction. On the other hand, if people stay in one only, emergency vehicles can easily bypass the queue.

Zipper merge is the most efficient method but it rarely works because people are selfish and entitled. Drivers just race to the front prior to the lane restriction instead of figuring out how to do it right

It'll shorten the que line, but you won't get through any quicker because you are using two lanes instead of one.

Zipper merging is reserved for the highest IQ drivers. Low IQ drivers tend to think you're cutting them off and get reel mad.
