I’ve been meaning to post this. For the unaware, Catbrahs dog is a legit monster


Have you ever wanted a bear as a pet, but didn’t want to deal with the whole wild animal in the house thing? If so, we may just have the best dog for you. Let us introduce the Caucasian Shepherd Mountain Dog.

This breed is an absolute unit—as the kids like to say—that’s frequently found in the countrysides of Eastern Europe countries or the Caucasus region (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia (origins) and Russia.


You’re unlikely to ever see a full-grown adult that’s under 100lbs, and some males can hit over 200lbs. Their coat is nothing but fluff and depending on their coloring they can easily be mistaken for a lion or bear in the distance.

These dogs have been bred solely to protect their family against predators and strangers, and that includes fighting off mountain lions and bears. This makes them relentless in a fight when against an unknown and are naturally prone to the behavior. For every 1 person, this dog is amazing for there’s 99 that they would be a disaster for.


There’s only a few breeds that come close. Kangal, Cane Corso, Tibetan Mastiff, etc.

I know because I wanted one for a long time.

And a quick bump-I wanted one because I once had plans to go off the map, as much as possible, and figured this would be a solid companion (along with 1-2 other dogs). They aren’t pets. They are smart. They don’t usually do tricks and fun-time bull****. These puppers are there to help you to survive.

The thing about their temperament is that they tend to be mega gentle with their “family”. That includes other dogs, cats, chickens (in Catbrahs case) and most other creatures. Strangers into the home are more of an issue. If your kid’s friend plays too rough with your kid, the dog’s guard instinct is triggered. That’s why it’s one of those breeds that requires work/experience.

A dog that gives 0 chits about jumping through hoops in shows, but is smart as fuk, and recognizes & protects family. Can’t ask for much better as a companion dog. It noticed the intrusion and acted. Good boy.
