Wages continue to stagnate while the American dream gets pulled further and further away thanks to inflation.
We’re phucked boyos.

Them “Oh so what are your salary requirements?”
You “What is being offered?”
Them “There is a range based on experience level”
You “For someone with my level of experience, what would be the offer?”
Them “What are you looking for?”
You “I am looking for a fair compensation based on the fact that I have years of experience in this setting and bring a lot to the table as evidenced by my CV”
Them “We think you would be a perfect fit with our organization, and find your CV impressive”
You “Thank you, what would be the salary range for people with my level of experience?”
Them “What would you be looking for?”
You *damn ok I’ll just throw out a number* I would be looking for $45 an hour.
Them *shocked and disgusted* “OH. Oh wow, no…no no no no no no no…nooooooooooo. That’s a little bit out of our range.”
You *sigh* “Ok, so what would be the offer?”
Them “Could you do $38 an hour?”
You “That’s less than I am making now”
Them “I see…well thanks for your interest, we will certainly be in touch”

The hiring manager certainly doesn’t want people to be overpaid, or paid any more than they need to be.
