It's weird how even "smart" people are using the word "literally" wrong these days.

Before, it was just the stupid people saying "literally" the wrong way.

"I literally died when I drank my pumpkin spice latte." That's something you'd hear a dumb sloot say. You'll hear a bunch of retards use the word to really emphasize they mean something.

But now I'm seeing even people who should know better using the word now. Lulz. Are we just accepting stupidity now? We're no longer going to correct people?

I deleted the world literally from a post I wrote earlier because I realized it would actually make me look stupid.

I wonder if you saw this post before I edited it, is this just a literal example of the topic at hand, or is it an actual call out.

They are using the word correctly.

Take a look at definition 2 (Merriam-Webster Dictionary):

“used in an exaggerated way to emphasize a statement or description that is not literally true or possible”

Words and phrases can have more than one meaning. In fact, words can be either a noun, or verb, or adjective depending on the usage. I know you know this.

They can. But there are better ways to go about things.

The word "actually" for instance is a better word to use than "literally" to emphasize something in many cases. Using "literally" in some cases is a good way to just look like an idiot.

They may have changed it in the dictionary, but i still think anyone who uses "literally" to mean "figuratively" is kind of dumb. But not as dumb as the irregardless people.
