Far. Was good for meeting other solid people in the same talent pool.

I know more now and would concentrate on a few places.

Doing it over, I'd recommend a wider network from the start to help place yourself.

By choice......1100 miles. Wanted to move, company I worked for had offices where I wanted to move to and luckily there was an opening. Worked out there for 4 years, then decided to move back.

By being asked to move for work......about 110 miles. Just far enough that I did not want to make that commute every day. Big promotion was offered but I had to move to some small ass town of like 14k people.....was only supposed to be for 8-12 months to start up a project we just got......3 years later when they asked me how I felt about "putting down some roots and working my way up to the Director position" I resigned.

Many years ago I drove a truck OTR so I kind of "relocated" everywhere living a nomadic life. Never again.

800 miles but no it didn't work out. I think all the moving and other factors kind of messed things up but even then the job wasn't what I thought it would be. However, NO REGERTS because it was an experience and I learned some things along the way. If I did it again, I'd do it differently, and yes, I would do it again. I've known people who relocated to other countries or across the nation. So many people will live and die in the same town and never branch out. A lot of employers know this so they will base what they pay on the local area, not national. They know that even if their employees aren't happy, they might go to the next company over, but that's it.

About 1900 miles, from IL to CA. Stayed there for 9 years.
And then 2100 miles, from CA to FL. Retired a year after (the relocation had more to do with where I wanted to retire than the job).

From SLC to DC so 2k miles, also lived in Nigeria for a few months but I wouldn't call that a permanent relocation.
