Why are fat babies and fat animals considered cute?

but fat human adults are considered unattractive and disgusting?

Why is it that when a baby or a pet(e.g cat, rabbit, hamster etc) is chubby, people are like 'aw' and even want to cuddle with them. Some people love to pinch fat babies' cheeks.

However, when we see fat or even chubby adults, we find it repulsive and ugly and we look down on them, especially if they are women.

Because fat adults is due to gluttony, while fat animals and babies is a form of neglect (over feeding from someone)

A chunky baby is a sign of a healthy baby. They need the extra energy to grow tall.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Maybe the cute chubby cheeks motivates parents to feed their young child since it's even more important for them not to go hungry.

Did you guys know that female chimpanzees reject overweight/fat male chimpanzees for more athletic/leaner chimpanzees? Even out closest relatives dislike flabbyness.

"Baby fat" was a thing for a reason. Many babies didn't make it to adulthood. Extra chonk could mean a child might better survive famine or illness.

Having a little more fat used to be preferred for women too. Same reason. Meant that your female was well fed and not overworked.

However I expect obesity was rare and morbid obesity outright freakish. Daily living required people to move more, so think extra cushion, but over muscle and with a decent level of cardio fitness from walking everywhere unless you were quite wealthy and had an animal and cart of some kind.
