I don't have any kids but... I think being frugal at times, and generous at other times, is the way to do it. Give kids good childhood memories via some vacations here and there, don't spoil them, maybe $1k/yr in gifts, a stupid cheap car at 16, tuition assistance till 22 (50% coverage max, they need scholarships/grants/part-time job), and opportunity for free housing 18-22ish. After that though they're on their own. Let them succeed or fail on their own after that, inheritance when I'm gone if they aren't heinous felons or similar. I think it's optimal to let kids at the young adult age (18+) have the opportunity to fail, and to develop discipline derived from struggling (working a part time job, limited allowance).

In some ways, you're playing God when you're the parent. With respect to what you can provide. Assuming you have an average or better income and living situation. Provide too much and they'll grow cocky and see how far they can push your safety nets. Provide too little and they'll grow resentful and feel abused.

It's cruel to bring kids into the world if you're going to doom them to lives of wage slavery in a crumbling western country.

There are plenty of ways to learn hard work without getting your labor stolen by Mr. Noseberg and Mr. Shekelstein. There's a reason the wealthy almost never put their kids through that chit. Trump never worked at walmart lol.

I think boys and girls are different. I want both my kids to be disciplined, but I want my sons to be focused more on moneymaxing and my daughter to find a husband as young as possible. I don’t want to be sending her off to college to get blown out by 20 dudes and end up being a depressed wagie. I’d rather shes find a man in her late teens, perhaps I’d like to do an arranged marriage. And I want the dude to be good for her, no beta

You're not playing God because you do not get to say whether the market offers everyone with a community college certificate and short sleeved button up enough money to live on immediately.

Usually the friction hurts both sides. Truthfully, if you try running out on your children by some euphoric cope or criminal thuglife, the world will fucc you up.

I'd provide my child with a home...or at least reduced rent...$1500 house for $750 for example. Maybe owner finance it for them when they show me money management skills. First car provided, help with college, plenty of free advice, free meal whenever. Can't really do much more without risking doing too much and creating an adult brat.
