Misc Bicycle Brahs, Help Me

Looking to get a bike to ride with my son in the afternoons. Would like to stay under $300. I know in the bike world, that’s generally going to be regarded as a hunk of sh|t, but I don’t want to spend more for the time being.
I’m 6’0 tall. Not sure what size I would need. Haven’t really rode a bike since I was about 14 or 15.

Go on your local craigslist and search for "trek multitrack" or "trek singletrack"

These are steel bikes from the late 90s that are found in abundance on the used market for under $200.

Very durable bikes, with quality components.

Edit: for sizing look at a sizing chart from the company of the bike you're buying.

Seems like I keep seeing people recommend used treks.
I guess anything new in my budget isn’t worth the trouble. Lol

Definitely not worth the trouble.

Used bikes are still viable for many many years to come. The most expensive thing you'll have to worry about is tires, and those can be had for $20-$30....

Found some used Giants for around $350 to look to be in pretty good shape. Deal or no deal?

giants are also good.

usually the big mega branks like giant/trek have solid components on the bikes.

I recommended the specific TREK models because they literally last forever. I searched my area and just found 6 of them for sale on craigslist.
