Honestly once you act confident and show your receipt he will instinctively assume you're telling the truth, he's not gonna be scanning every inch looking for chit.

The "just above homeless" crowd in CA will hang out in Walmart parking lots and snag dropped receipts, walk into the store, go grab the product and "return" it. They'll take the store return card and sell it for half the value and then they'll have drug money.
