“Million Dollar Man” names the only WWE star he disliked in real life

Ted DiBiase Sr. was one of WWE's top stars in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The Hall of Famer got along with almost everyone in the company during his in-ring days, with the exception of The Ultimate Warrior.

It is well known that Warrior could be difficult to deal with behind the scenes. The former WWE Champion famously threatened to no-show SummerSlam 1991 if Vince McMahon did not pay him more money. Many opponents have also accused him of being careless in the ring.

On Everybody's Got A Pod, DiBiase Sr. revealed that Warrior is the only person he disliked in the wrestling business:
"If there is that one guy that I had an issue with, it was The Ultimate Warrior because, quite frankly, I think he got a break he didn't deserve. He didn't respect wrestling, he didn't grow up in wrestling, and he had one thing going for him: a good body." [8:37 – 8:58]

Ted DiBiase Sr. and The Ultimate Warrior shared the ring more than a dozen times between 1989 and 1992. One of their most notable matches came at The Main Event IV, where Warrior defeated his rival via disqualification to retain the WWE Championship.

In the 1980s, WWE's larger-than-life personalities cut unique promos to stand out from the rest of the roster. While many enjoyed The Ultimate Warrior's eccentric style on the microphone, others felt his wild promos did not make much sense.

Ted DiBiase Sr., also known as The Million Dollar Man, was not a fan of Warrior's outlandish approach to trash-talking:
"If you go back and listen to any of the interviews he did, when he got through, I would look at somebody and go, 'What the hell did he just say?' There's other guys that I worked with that got a break, but they're good people and they were appreciative of, 'I'm gonna help get you over. We're gonna have a match tonight and I'm gonna help make you a star.'" [8:59 – 9:30]
On April 8, 2014, Warrior passed away at the age of 54 after suffering a heart attack. He received an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame three days earlier.

nobody has anything good to say about warrior besides kids who grew up in the 80s and early 90s. it is what it is.

I liked the Ultimate Warrior. Liked him when he was the Dingo Warrior in wccw also. I didn’t like that he no showed for his ‘96 return, but I still liked him. My opinion is based off expirience watching him, not his backstage politicking or contract negotiations.

If watching The Ultimate Warrior's entrance does not get you so pumped up you're ready to run through a brick wall you just don't have a pulse. I miss when wrestling had larger than life personalities like Warrior, Hulk Hogan, The Macho Man, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Rock. Those dudes had charisma and are way more entertaining than the vanilla midgets doing gymnastics in a barn.

I think Sting and Owen Hart were the only two guys that ever got along with Warrior.

I was hoping his return in 96 would be successful. He creative control and ideas for his character weren’t going to work in Jim Ross opinion. But warrior vs. goldust was a 5 star masterpiece at an In your House ppv of all shows.

Warrior had energy and charisma and you need wrestlers like that to appeal to the kids, they're not all going to be marks for technicians like the Harts, you need variety for people to root for.

Yeah I know he didn't go train in Japan like Hogan did, but who else was swole enough to pass the torch to at that time? It's not like they had Sting.

savage did better numbers than warrior as champ. he could've turned face and been the guy again. he also stayed over even when he lost the size during the steroid trial era. kennedy is just kinda gay. not that there's anything wrong with that.

there's a few other guys who could've turned face and gotten the title in 1990. rick rude, henning, piper would've all done a better job than warrior as champ.

What do you mean Savage did better numbers than Warrior as Champ? Ratings? Attendance? If anything, it was because Hogan was chasing him so of course everyone is going to watch if Hogan is gonna win the title back.

Rude, Henning and Piper didn't have the drawing power like Warrior.

savage was a better drawing champ than warrior. hogan was chasing? at first, he was filming a movie and then they were a tag team.

and again warrior didn't draw. once warrior won the title, there was nowhere for him to go.

you're talking chit about rude, piper and henning, but they never got a chance. if bret never got a chance, you'd have him grouped with those guys. all 3 were just as capable as bret. you would've at least been able to build some compelling stories for them. any one of those 3 working a main event title program vs the other would've been hnnnggg in 1990.

Yep my mistake for some reason I was thinking the year before during Macho's first title run and Hogan was chasing WM5.

Warrior wasn't the best guy to deal with no but the one thing I respect is that he seems to have gone out of his way to apologise and make amends with as many people as he could before he died. I don't see the point in continuing to bag on the guy.
