How are alternative search engines to Google still so inferior to it in 2023?

I've been trying to embrace using duckduckgo for an internet search browser for years now, but over half the time, I find myself switching back to Google. Google makes stuff like looking up store hours/phone numbers/directions incredibly simple and easy. Meanwhile, the results are almost always a bigger pain to deal with on duckduckgo. And I say all of this while knowing full well that Google has taken a nosedive in overall quality as a search engine over the past decade or so.

Are there any non-Google search engines that don't suck?

I sometimes find myself needing to use google, Bing, or Brave, to find information. If the information is not favorable to Biden and the Democrats Google will censor it I've found. The other day are less into censoring as best I can tell but have limitations.

Because all the data collection, spying, etc. does actually help the product for certain subjects like finding business information. But its bias makes it garbage for anything resembling politics, unpopular opinions, etc.

they aren't unless you are including bard integration for ai generative results in which case thats about the best you are going to get.

as a base search engine, google is nearly useless which is why they added tags for sites like reddit, etc.. what they should have is a disable SEO option for search results.

Yep beat me to it.

Browsers like Brave and DuckDuck Go are working exactly as intended. Itsbecausethey miss specific details about local businesses in your area that you know they're not harvesting your information.

I've basically embraced it. I've had my google account since about 2005, so whatever information they have on me They can have it. Its just too convenient to ignore.

but like a few have said itt, i'll still pull up the Brave browser if I have suspicion that particular details about a news story is being held from me with a simple google search.

Google has censored political stuff in favor of liberals for as long as I can remember. That's not really news. I don't use it for politics.

Google itself is pretty worthless too.

The internet got broken when social media took over and now everything with actual information is hidden behind a login screen. Even if you login, the site itself will have a crap search engine.

Google gives Quora and Pinterest results. Everything else is just ads. You can add "reddit" to your Google search and maybe you can find some information if you are looking for a specific niche answer.

10- 15 years ago you could type something in Google and you would get a rabbit hole of awesome information and actual results.

brave and duckduck go are trash as far as search results.

Now if its something that the jews at google dont want you to see then yeah duckduckgo may actually find something but for general use its chit

Bing used to be ****, I havent tried it since its gotten AI
