I’ve been thinking this drinkin’ is wreckin’ my health
But I reckon that’s better than killin’ myself

I have an older relative that had hit some of the lowest lows of his life (career gone, family gone, legal issues, suspended license, etc.). He has been drinking very regularly (sometimes multiple handles in a single day) for several years now. He has been to the hospital multiple times, had liver/kidney surgeries and a kidney removal, recently had a colon infection. Still won't quit boozing. He legitimately believes he'd rather be drunk and die sooner, than try long term sobriety and make an optimal start for his next chapter in life. Don't end up like this dude OP. Easy in our 20's/30's to say it won't be us, but normalizing alcoholism and letting it creep into your lifestyle is a bad sign.
I'm doing Sober September currently, made a thread on it but no one wants to join in lol (except a couple who have been sober for many months or even years). I'll go back to drinking by November, maybe even early-mid October. But needed a break. I found myself during the Summer wanting to drink alone, even on work days (after work) if I felt stressed or particularly bored. Not huge amounts, but 4-5 drinks worth some days. Very Caloric and regretful. And would sometimes lead me to get munchies and make unhealthy dietary choices I normally wouldn't, so double whammy on excess Calories. I think it also lowered my energy, and messed with my mood. A month off, maybe even a little longer, should do the trick, then back to occasional social drinking.

honest advice for OP is to do Hot Yoga.
not only for the health benefits but for the women he could easily bang.
btw: I've never done it but I've heard its really detoxifying mentally and physically.

Been drinking way heavier since I quit smoking pot in 2022. Not sure if it was the smartest trade-off. Still try to keep it no more than 6ish beers every other night or something around there.

At an all-inclusive resort as I type this, boyos. Will look into this after it's over.

Obviously if someone drinks too much and too regularly...it would start effecting the health...although I do enjoy drinking myself...but I don't understand how someone can feel comfortable by letting it be an all the time or everyday thing...I mean there has to breaks...where a person gets bored and tired of drinking...even if you are enjoying it...

Yep. Even just one or two beers at lunch makes you feel like **** the rest of the day
Thinking back in all that booze has cost me makes me even sicker.

Not even OPs cats love him.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.
