I watched a cop give someone a ticket yesterday
In a very nice part of the city. She was near a park drinking a beer with some friends, chatting.
Cop comes up to write her a ticket. She is like WTF?
I am there thinking about life, and say "Hey, in all honesty don't you have more pressing folks to cite and issues to investigate" and he just looked at me and did a "sigh".
Imagine being 25 years old, and getting a ticket in NYC for having a drink in public.
As if covering it in a brown paper bag doesn't shout "look at me guys I am drinking alcohol!!!"
Tell me brehs: do cops write tickets in your areas if you drink an ice cold one in a park?
If so: SMH.
Pathetic af especially here considering crime rates. SRS

Go **** yourself you Marxist cuck bitch
The cop sighed at your sorry ass because he’s assigned to patrol a certain area and barring a tone out isn’t going to respond to a call on the other side of NYC
That lady was probably acting disorderly or like a drunken idiot if she got a ticket during happy hour or some ****
I’d giver her one too

Don't they have quotas and budgets and chit that could increase the likelihood they give a ticket?
Idk if it's true just remember hearing that growing up

Manhattan cops are retarded like that.
Years back, I was sitting on my stoop drinking a monster energy and a cop comes bolting down the street and slammed on the brakes when he saw me. His window was down and I heard him say "Oh that's an energy drink." Dude thought I was drinking a tallboy.
I was like you fuсking prick.

Brb crying you can't get laid without making six figures.
You're a loser. How many "Marxist" folks support law enforcement but believe they should prioritize actual crimes?
All 3 girls were mid 20s, blonde, white. They should get tickets for sitting and talking while drinking a beer?
Tl;dr stay mad brokecel. You injected your bitterness into this case which wasn't true. Learn your place.

You’re irate a cop was giving someone a ticket instead of addressing “real crime” when you admitted it’s a rich area in NYC
Patrolmen are assigned to a specific area and dispatch isn’t going to send them on a call 3 districts over if someone else is closer
The cop might have been an ******* but he was doing his job
Common sense should tell you the nicer the area and less crime there is the more petty ordinance enforcement there is

Laws like that are just proof positive why I don't trust the government's ability to run anything. Why would I trust the same people in charge of that to even operate a can opener?

Just because they wouldn't look at you twice doesn't mean that public drinking should be cited more than looting.

You can drink openly downtown in the historic district. Otherwise, gotta be in a bag. Never seen anyone get a ticket for drinking openly, but I've also never seen someone drinking openly outside of downtown.
I'm back, bitches!

This is why cops annoy me, they will ignore the scumbags that make things dirty and unsafe and nail taxpayers over bullchit.
But if you're having a quiet drink in a quiet and nice neighborhood you'd think the cop would be there to serve and protect. Not cite someone for having a brewski.
Weed is legalized here and folks smoke it near kids in Central Park but drinking a glass of wine is prohibited? Clown city srs, and we have a cop as mayor now.

I just don't see the point in enforcing this, especially in a place like NYC.

there was an ex cop in Arlington Va years ago that told the truth about quotas, promotions and daily or monthly goals regarding tickets.
the takeaway message was that not hitting your goals as a cop ( money for cities) had negative career consequences.

E.g. cops salary vs. The "ticket" you saw him give her
