I just watched it and I forgot how good it is.

I just read that there will be a Gladiator 2 movie next year!

Gladiator and Troy are two of the only movies that come to mind I can watch on repeat...

Most movies I can watch every 5 years or so...

I loved the movie. Although I'd always wish for a happier ending I loved it, and will always love it.

My boy Juba (Djimon Hounsou) should've had even more screen time though IMO. Would've liked to see a spin-off involving both his past, and his future.

Looks like, from IMDB, Gladiator 2 will have Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, and... drum roll... Juba (Djimon Hounsou). Hell yeah. I have high expectations. But moderate hopes, given clown world wokeisms and social agendas lowering my hopes, and those three actors increasing my hopes.

2000 was the pre-clown world era so you didn't have the nonsense we see.

I took me forever to find a movie I wanted to watch after looking at 50+ and I decided on Gladiator.

Just thought of something. Why does Maximus/Russell allow himself to be enslaved as a gladiator? Like he seems pretty cool, or accepting at least, or being totally cucked as a slave. He even treats his slave master as a friend instead of chopping his head off and being free.

The obvious answer is he used the gladiator role to get close to Commodus for avenge. But I dunno, at least early on that just doesn't cut it because it wasn't an obvious possibility.

I was surprised he would allow it as well. He was pretty run down physically and emotionally when they found him, plus he had that wound, so maybe he just gave up after seeing his family burned to death like that. But once he was healed and stronger you would think he'd use his strength and prowess to escape from being a slave.
