Just cried like a little fgt (srs)

We have a 9-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog that has stomach cancer, finally today she completely stopped eating.

My wife is a veterinarian and is trying to stimulate appetite and whatnot but nothings working.

Wife is saying a few days we decide.

Couldn't handle the conversation and broke down.

Feels like the hardest thing ever

I am sorry man, that is just about the worst thing ever. Been through it and there’s no way around how painful it is.

Just remember that your dog lived a great life, better than most people. She was loved and she knows it. Jsut be there with her as she leaves the world.

Chit sucks man sorry to hear that. 9 is a good age for a Berner giant big breeds usually don't make it to 10. Honestly it's best to not let her suffer too long if she won't eat.

It's hard to pull the trigger on euthanizing but trust me we waited too long for one of our family dogs when I was a kid and it was much worse when he died from his body shutting down than it would have been if we had recognized how dire his health situation was and euthanized him a few weeks prior.

Yeah that would be tough OP. How did you find out the dog had stomach cancer? Like what were the symptoms? My dog is getting close to 9 (GSD) and I'm noticing a few health problems with him now (he has a non-cancerous tumor near his stomach and he breathes pretty heavy now).

Wife is a Vet so she would know, I think it was vomitting at random. So sh took to her clinic and did an Ultrasound and found cancer in the stomach. She was still eating at that point a month ago. Fast forward to today she flat out refused to eat and she for the first time didn't greet me at the door. Wife says her poop is black meaning shes bleeding in her stomach.

She gathers a week at most.

I'm devastated

Feeling depressed.

I've tried everything including force feeding and IV fluids for very sick dogs.

I've had the best luck blending/grinding organ meat into a paste like baby food and (patiently) enticing them to lick at it, even without a stimulant like martazapine. Hopefully you can get a little nutrition onboard and make her more comfortable.
