Pretty sure Jiffy Lube ripped-off my wife on her oil change...

2016 Mazda 6.

They charged her $100. Last time I took her car in for an oil change at a mechanic shop it was ~$60, which I thought was also expensive. They also tried to sell her the extra stuff in the service comments, which I figure is BS.

1. Of course they did. All automotive service providers do it to all women because they do not know better.

Now that you understand that, learn how to change your own oil.

Pro tip, you are not saving money. The idea they don’t charge as much for oil because they buy in bulk is bs. They do buy in bulk and they do save a chit ton that way, but they are not passing it on.

It is not any cheaper than doing it yourself, and they are all slime balls.

2. Negged. Obviously.

Ive had these clowns show me bad oil from axles and transmissions when I KNOW its new because I did it or do it regularly. I use these places in a pinch or if the weather is too ****ty to do the oil in my driveway.

I have since found a mechanic shop that will just change the oil with no BS. Its about 70$ for a small car which im ok with. With the cost of oil+filter being about half that price the rest is cheap because labor and getting rid of old oil and filters is annoying. Plus you got to have a drain pan, clean it and ****.

Not being a smart azz, but why don't you do it yourself? That should run you about $35 worth of supplies to do it yourself.

Oil changes are around $80 at the dealership so $100 isn't too far off.

Yeah I'm not going through all that sh!t to change the oil myself and possibly f*ck it up. Don't have the time. Barely even have time to take my car in to an actually shop during the week since I work m-f and don't get off till 6 (when all shops are closing).

There's no excuse for not changing your own oil because you can do it in 10mins flat with all the right tools set out. I can do mines in 5 mins flat if we're really timing.

Drive up ramp
unplug pan bolt
unplug filter/replace
rebolt
fill

It's 3000 mile oil changes now for me.

https://mazdashopusa.com/products/ma...gine-oil-0w-20

5 bottles = $35
1 oil filter = $6

$60 won't cut it with labor and taxes so idk what you paid for last time.

$100 isn't that horrible but lol @ not doing simple maintenance yourself.

This. Needed to change the oil in my wife's car back in April but was about to leave for Brazil and didn't have time to do it so just told her to take it somewhere. Get back from Brazil and start seeing oil drops on the driveway. Morons didn't tighten the filter down.
