Solution to San Francisco's theft problem

San Francisco stores need to put up signs on the doors saying: "All prices marked up by +$951 until after cashier's discount".

In doing so it would make all store items above $950 without needing to re-label them. And, of course, it would be a major crime to steal any item. Problem solved.


This would be to counter the law stipulating that stolen items below $950 are only a minor misdemeanour. Very little effort to put up a sign or two and yet the benefits are far better. And then the police would be forced to prioritize the problem above (other) misdemeanours.

I find that not living in or doing business in San Francisco resolves the problem 100% of the time.

The answer for all theft is simple. Give out high criminal fines. If you steal under $500, then you get a $1000 fine. Stealing above and get higher and higher fines

Take away the financial incentive

Already exists but because stealing under $950 is a small misdemeanour then the police won't show up until the suspects are long gone. By employing my tactic all the items become priced above $950 and this makes any theft into a serious crime; police must come promptly, arrests, etc.

I’ve seen shootings in SF and armed robbery at dispensaries and police still hadn’t shown up before I left and this was a decade ago.

Wouldn't matter because that's not the whole problem. The DA's over there don't prosecute like they should, and so cops don't see the need to do arrests unless it's major crime, because it's just extra paperwork.

The problem is that the police won't do anything. No court is going to do anything.

So now you're on your own. Problem with that is most of these uber lib places criminalized protecting yourself so no matter what you are in the wrong, the criminal has the power, and there's nothing you can do about it.
