This is the longest I have ever gone without playing games. Im coming up on over 10 months now because there isn't a single title that can hold my attention longer than a few days.

I probably have thousands of hours between Halo, ARK, Fortnite, New World and Destiny. These games all got a pretty heavy amount of playtime. Nothing else even comes close to scratching the itch.

The one thing they all seem to have in common is that they are all major titles with competitive shooting elements and somewhat unique genres. This game drought sucks for me and all im looking forward to is the ark remaster, maybe new servers on new world, and marathon. Are there any good multiplayer games releasing soon that I should know about?

Should also add that it seems like my friends are in the same boat. I see them playing runescape and just cycling through occasional single player games. These guys would grind multiplayer shooters extremely hard.

When I really think about it, you do have a point.

The only multiplayer games I play are Factions and Chivalry 2.

Sweaty meta slaves who no life games + SBMM make getting decent at online fps games less fun.

For example: MW22 sucks balls compared to MW2019. But 2019 still exists, so...

Usually in the top 1% of games or even top 200 or 10. I don't suck but the games usually do. They are playable for a bit but some of the updates or lack of them end up ruining the game. I remember being in the champion bracket of halo 5 and I logged on one day and pistol starts were replaced with AR and Shotgun. 343i said breakout was their most competitive game mode ever created that had old pros on their payroll helping to develop it. They literally gutted it. Logged on to infinite a month ago and jumped into ranked slayer. AR starts.

I think the problem is these games are becoming less competitive rather than more. People are starting to lash out on their teammates rather than the algorithm. When halo 3 launched they used the trueskill ranking system that was designed to give you close games around your exact same skill level. I learned that in the later games they developed the trueskill v2 ranking system which is designed to give lopsided games which you will see in MCC, and is basically industry standard across all major ranked games. There is absolutely no reason someone who is a Diamond in Apex should be in a lobby with Predators and have a gold on their team. Going back to trueskill v2 they figured out that close games were stressful for some "players" and they wanted to design a system that would drip feed people wins and losses at basically a 50/50 ratio. Apex is something like a 6% win rate consistently.

You throw this on top of multiplayer shooters that are pretty stale right now as the last big innovation in the genre was fortnite like 6-7 years ago and theres really nothing to play.

Im thinking the shooter genre doesnt have anything new and shiny and the old stuff just isnt worth sticking around and playing over and over as it either gets gutted or updated in the wrong direction.

eh just looked into it and its an arena shooter. I think its going to flop. Arena shooter gameplay is stale at this point. If it wasn't we would see halo infinite doing well or splitgate. I put an extremely good amount of time into arena shooters until fortnite came out and it basically ruined the genre for me. Something new and fresh needs to be created.

I have my eye on marathon, but we dont have a lot of details on it yet.

GOAT Siege is still chugging, though I'll admit it's been getting stale after playing for 6-7 years.

I'm hoping the new Modern Warfare is good since it brings back all 16 maps from OG MW2. That's really all I have to look forward to anymore since Battlefield is a lost cause (which sucks; used to be the GOAT of GOATs when it came to multiplayer shooters). These days all I play are single player games, but those are thankfully better than they have been in a decade+.

This. Im going right back to Titanfall 2 with the new updates. Gotta support my main squeeze. Hopefully this means they're working on TF3.

COD is a fast TTK arena shooter. The genre has been stale for nearly a decade now. If it werent for warzone the COD franchise would be on life support.No beta yet, just the trailer. We are probably a year or three until we see that game.I played siege for a bit but it wasnt my speed. The games were slow and very repetitive. If I went back I would probably play breachers on VR instead as I heard its basically copy paste siege.
