ITT: It's the middle of the week - describe your training this week thus far

How has everyone's training been this week so far? On my end, wasn't so great. Could have definitely been better. Been really busy and exhausted lately. I generally hit pull day early in the week and the rest later in the week and over the weekend. I hit my gym at 6:30am before my crazy day began last weekend and over lunch yesterday. I had to cut it short and compartmentalize but focused on heavy compounds regardless. I've had to adapt my training protocol to fit my current lifestyle/schedule, which is markedly more rigid than it used to be. Still, I can hit 3 solid lifting sessions a week. If I need to do heavy squats at 6am, so be it. Perks of training in a home gym. Regular hiking in the mountains and a focus on keeping calories in check means I've been able to maintain my conditioning since I stopped cutting last June.

Does anyone have any specific lifting goals for the autumn? Bulking, cutting, strength-building, endurance, cardio, etc? I'm definitely going to hit another intense cut cycle in the late winter and am poised to potentially enter the single digits of body fat by summer, which will most likely be incredibly challenging but quite rewarding if that goal materializes.

godspeed to my miscer peeps who actually lift.

Zero unfortunately, have this pain inside my left arm kind of under my bicep near elbow, trying to let it heal. Also, back has been bothering me since volleyball Monday. Being old sucks. No specific goal, just stay consistent. Would love to push my db bench above 100's for reps, but I keep having set backs. Last workout did them for 5. Shoulder press is limited to the hammer strength, but I hit 3 plates each side on it for 6 last time. I like to stay around this range.

I couldn't do a home gym. I don't even like to workout alone at the actual gym. I enjoy mogging. You do push/pull?

Pulled my back deadlifting on Monday. Was supposed to run 10k yesterday but it didn’t seem like a good idea. Gonna lift today and try to get 10-15k in by the end of the week.

Yeah, I do my own version of push/pull/legs. My back hurts a lot these days too. I feel like I'm getting old and the little aches and pains are mounting ever so slowly.

I might have to start soaking in epsom salt baths. My wife does it and I sometimes go in with her and that schit really works.

Been fighting a cold since Sunday night. No fever and not the worst i've ever had, but all congested and stuffy. That being said I took off Mon/Tues. Probably going to hit some cardio and Sauna/abs. Maybe just do a few light compounds to get the joints lubed up for the rest of the week. Currently on the faithful bro-split.
Are you not entertained?

Did full body at gym Sunday. Legs today. Gotta do bodyweight or super light weights cause of left leg injuries. I try to walk 30 min a day 5 days a week.

My main goal is maintaining. I'd love to be able to do more cardio but won't be able to until my leg is fixed. Been trying to get that done since beginning of June but Drs suck anymore. I see another ortho beginning of Oct. Not sure if I'll need surgery to clean up my torn meniscus or if they'll do a cortisone shot, or both. I think I also need the fluid in my knee drained.

Hope that doesn't impact your long term recovery/training so much. Also hope it goes well.

I'm also more in maintenance mode right now. I've accepted that I can't put on a substantial amount more mass to justify putting in all that extra work and that I'm not willing to put myself through the ringer anymore. I'm happy hitting it hard for 8 months out of the year, still training to failure with intensity because that's what I like, and then cutting down the rest of the time. I'm really liking trying to keep my calories generally low.

Thanks! I think I'll be ok once this gets fixed. I had a torn meniscus in my early 20s and had a cortisone shot at the time which seemed to fix it. Over the years that knee acts up occasionally but would only be for a day/couple of days. This has been hurting since Feb. I'm guessing this is that old injury and needs to be cleaned up maybe. I also had a bakers cyst rupture so that is why I originally thought it was my calf that was injured. The pain goes from my calf up behind knee and front/sides of knee.

Good luck on your goals! I think most people get to the point/age where maintenance is more important. At 54, female and a lifetime natty I don't see a reason to try to lift heavy and risk more injuries. I've been able to maintain pretty well just doing light lifting for years.

Can't complain too much. Kind of annoyed somebody broke the leg press machine but they got squat racks, smith machines, and V squats so it's no big deal. Got back into doing deadlifts the other day so that's something to work on over the coming months.
