Mayor Adams:

Chaos erupted outside a Staten Island shelter for migrants as protesters tried to stop asylum seekers from moving in.

About 10 protesters were arrested on Tuesday outside a former Island Shores Assisted Living Facility in Midland Beach, where a crowd met migrants with chants including, 'Take them back, Take them back.'

Footage from the scene shows protesters banging on the bus windows as they tried to prevent the migrants from disembarking and entering the shelter.

Police said an officer suffered a knee injury when one of the protesters, area resident Vadim Dlyakov, resisted arrest. Dlyakov, who lives a block from the assisted living facility, was charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and obstructing government administration, as reported by The New York Daily News.

The rest of the arrested protesters were taken into custody and let go with disorderly conduct summonses.

The protest comes as Mayor Eric Adams is facing a furious backlash after more than 110,000 migrants have flooded into the city since the spring of 2022. Many of the migrants have been transported north from Republican border states in a bid to prove the Democrats' open arms policies are a disaster.

Adams denounced the protesters on Wednesday, calling it an 'ugly' display and saying he will not allow the city to be 'bullied' out of 'carrying out our responsibilities,' as reported by NY1.

'We cannot allow the numerical minority that's showing ugly display of how we deal with the crisis to be used as an example of what New Yorkers are doing,' he said.

'I understand the frustration that New Yorkers are going through and understand the frustration that asylum seekers are experiencing as well,' Adams added,

The asylum seekers were eventually able to exit the buses - hours after they arrived at the shelter.

New York City's migrant crisis is expected to cost the city more than $4billion this fiscal year if the situation continues - and mayorAdams has warned the influx of asylum seekers could destroy the city.

A+ New York pollster Siena just a few days ago had Biden ahead of Trump of 21%, almost the same margin that Biden won the state in 2020. Hochul has a net-approval of +7%

The state ain't flipping or even narrowing in 2024. A lot of the house seats that Zeldin helped delivered in the 2022 midterms are probably going back to Democrats

The election is over a year off, and **** just started hitting the fan. It will just build from here on out, and the view of Dems in NY will change.

I can't help but notice the article refers to them as "asylum seekers." Dude, everyone with a half functioning brain knows those are practically all bullschit. NGOs have been caught coaching illegals into making up stories for fake asylum claims. It's not like the courts can verify the fake claims.

It is next to impossible for NY to flip red. The most populated city in the country is here, and votes Dem like 80-20 in presidential elections no matter what. There's just not enough vote in the suburbs and rural areas to overcome that.

Flipping NY in a presidential election won't happen for another few decades or so.

But the goal isn't about flipping the state outright. It's about narrowing the Democrat's margin of victory from D+23% to about D+15%. Why? So they can maintain some of the 2022 house seats that they picked up and, possibly, open the state for a Republican governor or senator again

Trump 2020 actually pulled some solid gains in NYC, getting a 9% swing in NYC proper. These gains didn't show in NY total vote because Biden improved a lot over Hillary in upstate, Long Island, and NY suburbs . If Trump 2020 had performed exactly as he did in 2016 in upstate + Long Island + suburbs and kept his NYC gains - he would've lost NY by 14-15% in 2020
