Neuralink, Elon Musk’s brain implant startup, set to begin human trials

New York

Elon Musk’s controversial biotechnology startup Neuralink opened up recruitment for its first human clinical trial Tuesday, according to a company blog.

After receiving approval from an independent review board, Neuralink is set to begin offering brain implants to paralysis patients as part of the PRIME Study, the company said. PRIME, short for Precise Robotically Implanted Brain-Computer Interface, is being carried out to evaluate both the safety and functionality of the implant.

We’ve had tech to clone humans since the 90s and people still don’t think there are clones running around these days.

Just like they would never work on a gain of function virus.

Why would they do a thing like that? Right?

Notice how Elon never really invents his own stuff.

he just repackages stuff that was already invented.

electric cars were around in 1900 yet people somehow think he invented them.

Rockets have obviously existed for a long time and when you really think about he, his current ones are about equal to what we did with project gemini in the 60's. The landing thing is cool for sure and thats one great innovation he has done. make the economy of rockets more real.

the las vegas tunnel. its a subway where cars drive in it,. the most inefficient use of the subway you can think of. again, been around for 150 years at least. cant even put a bus down there?

so when you add up all the "innovations", do you really trust this person to put something in your brain? Seems a bit of a stretch even for the most devout elon swallower.

what happened to the self driving car craze where everyone could just sit in their car drunk and have it drive them around? couple years ago that was all you ever heard about, now you hardly ever see them, why is that?

I am not busting on the guy, I like him but just sayin.

cant wait for him to make some glasses where you can surf the internet or maybe even a magical headset you can wear around. People will be touting it like they never saw them before.

You are right in that he didn't 'invent' rockets or electric cars but you seem to think did not create a tech demo = just doing an Apple repackage job.

A largely reusable rocket which lands vertically is not repackaging, it is one of the most impressive feats of engineering in recent times done from the ground up.
The engineering it takes to build a serious scalable electric car people want and will buy with class leading self driving is massive, especially when basically every big automotive player couldn't get it done.

I guess the teams that build the F35 just repackaged the wright flyer because they didn't invent powered flight.

No doubt taking ideas already around and making them much more useful is a talent...but inventing chit not even conceptualized yet really hits special spot in my mind
