What happened to the smartest guy in your grade from high school?

The one with the highest score at the end of high school, I searched him on LinkedIn and he works retail at Target as an assistant manager.

The smartest one overall works as a doctor at a major hospital that I assume pay him a lot.

Then a lot of the smart Asian and Indians seem to work in civil engineering at smaller companies.

Then a lot of the mid-smart level people have business degrees and work mid tier analyst or consultant positions at banks, investment companies or superannuation companies.

Had to look it up. The valedictorian from my high school went to a state University, then some no-name post-grad for a Master's in data science. Now they work as a data scientist. He doesn't have a "Sr" or a number in his title, so guessing it's an entry or middle position. Glassdoor guesstimates $135k/yr for the job in their company, not bad, but if that's total comp then I make more.

His girl is a 3/10 and he was kind of an obnoxious 5'4 kunt back in the day. Always had to correct and one-up people for any topic. Smart as hell though, and kept focus on what mattered at the time. Where he ended up now is a far cry from what his potential was, expected him to be working as a higher up in Tesla or Google or something.

I'm doing well.
Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!

The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

They had the technology to rebuild me. They made me better, stronger, faster......

Last time I saw him was in 2015 and he just finished his masters in some type of mechanical engineering speciality, but was just doing some internship in an auto maker plant or something. It didn't make any sense tbh and said they were paying him $15 an hour.

The other kid I knew really well and played soccer with him my whole life was in residency to be a doctor. He died a couple weeks back. Still shaken up over that tbh and that one hit pretty hard on the old soul of mine. Life can be fukked up.

He owns a small investment banking firm that does healthcare advisory.

I saw him 5 years ago and he was a partner, then a former colleague went to work there 2 years ago and told me he bought out the firm.

Smart in what way? Being really good at math and physics (at university level like calculus and general relativity theory) requires you to be really smart, but that doesn't mean its the only way to be smart in. You could be average theoretically but a genius in practical solutions and become an engineer and inventor. You could be hot garbage at math and even have a significant lack of self discipline but be remarkably good at reasoning, speaking, writing and arguing and become a talented lawyer or politician. You can't tell me that a a NASA physicist is smarter than a supreme court judge. The judge could never ever do what the physicist does, but the physicist could never do the judges job either.

Anyways, I was obviously the smartest guy in class but I dropped out several times until I finally got into a masters in law back in 2020.

Offed himself when we were seniors in college. That was a really traumatic time when 3 of my good friends from high school died within 3 months during the Jan-Mar timeframe during my senior year in college (class valedictorian & my Grateful Dead tour buddy offed themselves and an ex-gf died of Hodgkins disease). This dude is still the smartest person I've ever known. He had scholarships to Harvard but chose to go to a lesser school anyway because I think he was really insecure about how smart he was. Anyway, I didn't have much contact with him throughout college, so the suicide came as a shock to everyone in our class.

We used to be best boyos playing risk and stuff
It all went downhill after he told me he achieved enlightenment in high school
He was on student disciplinary committee and despite all my boyos on the committee saying i was drunk outside school grounds so punishment isn’t appropriate, mister smarty pants pushed for me to get 10 days in school suspension.

Glad he got caught cheating on his French final and he got denied from Stanford so had to settle for MIT.

Went to UGA on academic scholarship.....went pre-med, graduated top 10%, took a year off to be a line chef, went back to med school....is now a critical care surgeon.

he Was in my group of 4-5 close friends that always hung out, we went to a smaller Highschool....graduating class of 347. He was the smarty, I was the athlete, 1 other guy was musically talented and the other 2 were just cool/fun/funny guys. We all stayed in contact till about 2013-2014....1 of the cool/fun guys (the one I was closest with) died in a motorcycle accident and we all just drifted apart.

Married his girlfriend right out of high school, started having kids, and worked a crappy job at an auto parts warehouse while putting himself through college.

He's now a director at a major oil company.

I had one of it now the lowest grades in school in our year, I now work in a pretty relaxed working from home role, in total I probably do 10 hours a week and am on a higher salary than a lot of people that had higher grades than me.

As for the smartest kid, fk knows, don’t even know who the smartest guy was, probably went to uni and is working in retail paying of a 90k student debt.

Drank the kool aid, did rippetoe, gained 100lbs and looked like a frog, but could d/l 4 plates a year into it. Lost all his confidence, lost his gf, dropped out of college to powerlift competitively, but lost to other dudes OJ on brosplits. Now works as a powerlifting PT, except he only has a client a week because he's a massive bloatlord.

IDK what the moral of the story is, but rippetoe, not even once.

The smartest guy I know was the type that had no friends, got constantly bullied, overweight, etc etc

He ended up becoming an actor in Hollywood. Starred in a few comedy items and I saw a few pics of him partying it up with west coast sloots.

Good on you guy.
