If you’re a foreman in the union maybe lmao

35$/hr is the average for non union journeyman sparkies

Bricklayers make around 20-25/$hr here unless they’re union or on a PW job which only puts them to 30 with better benefits

Their helpers make minimum wage or damn near guaranteed

All tradies make trash pay unless they get a lot of OT with inflation the way it is.

It’s the same with the IBEW guys but they’re out of work a lot here.

Aren't you from so cal? When I used to do masonry in so cal 15 years ago I met a few union journeymen masons, the pay was somewhere around 42/hr. When I worked on a prevailing wage job the pay was somewhere around there too.

Outside of the union tenders would generally make 9-12 an hour and masons 13-16. Once you got more time under your belt if you were good and not an illegal coupon (Mexican) you might make 18-22 an hour for a Mason. That was the way it was 15 years ago in the San Diego and Los Angeles area.

You'll get jacked as **** if you're working with block a lot, especially if working commercial, but it'll tear your body up.

Met and out worked a lot of Mexicans when I did masonry, they're not all they're cracked up to be.

I was never in the union when I did masonry, I met coupons who were in the union who said that was their hourly rate. Lol at a package doing masonry outside of the union, you don't get anything besides a low hourly wage, at least back then in so cal.

And yeah if I remember correctly I did one prevailing wage job and I think it was about 40 an hour, that was down the street from Disneyland.

Down south you're prob making 100 but then over 100k with overtime

Good take home pay, but then awesome benefits

On the top, top end you're prob talking A LOT. Someone on the top end in cali or NY? Guarantee 750k to a million plus

The super intendent down south is prob making 250k with all expenses paid and awesome retirement benefits

The general foreman at my last job (in the south) was making 96/hr

But yea, you prob have to bust your ass. Had a friend who made 4200/wk in Minnesota

I don't understand why anybody would work in the south tbh, as a journeyman

Another perk is you can literally pick a city in the u.s. and go and work there whenever you want if they have work as a Journeyman

You can literally go look up the old union contracts from that time

A GF I worked under while in 569 started right before the recession and said the jman pay was a 28/$hr when he started

I just don’t understand why tradies need to lie constantly about their actual pay or how good their life is

I’d rather work at Home Depot stocking shelves for 24/$hr than go back to electrical work for 30$/hr because there’s such a huge difference between the haves and have nots in CA

If I’m gonna be financially struggling indefinitely I’m just gonna do what I’m passionate about instead which is why I left for local LE

Yeah I work with some Mexicans that came here 6 months ago. They carry 1 brick at a time I can carry 3. I'm like 225. Been lifting since 15 so these bricks ain't ****. The heaviest thing I lifted was window sils.
