Thinking about cutting my own hair at home... any advice?

Yes, I am one of those guys that hate to have my hair cut.

Thinking about doing the fade by myself... and then if I fuk up (which will definitely happen) go for the buzz cut.

What are the chances It is going to go wrong!? Lul

It is currently 4-5 inches on top and 2 inches on the sides.

U need good mirrors, watch some youtube tutorials, honestly it's pretty easy. The hardest part is the back and neckline.

I buzz my own hair every 3 or 4 months. It takes me literally 5 minutes over the bathtub. Cleanup is super easy, just flush it all down the toilet.

if it's the first time, you're gonna mess up in one way or another

watch videos, read books on tha chit etc, along with knowing it's gonna take a few dozen or so buzz cuts before you'll replace your barber

Bet I could still pull more women than 95% of the misc.

Here is what sucks about it. Hair goes everywhere and cleanup sucks. You risk a chitty cut.

I would honestly go to a cheapo barber before doing it myself again. I had to do it during covid due to lockdowns. Its awful.
Is not a money problem, is a laziness/practicality problem.

Lul, not a money problem.

I could get it cut by a good barber for 12 euros here.

Nah, its not that bad. But it is becoming.

15 days vacation. Start working again on tuesday (need to get this **** cut and barbers are not open during sundays and mondays). My hair grows FAST! Last haircut was 1 month ago and I didn't have a fade.

Thats why.

I fuked up.

Surprisingly easy to do. Watch some youtubes on self haircuts, you'll get used to it quickly.

Even if you still want to get it cut professionally, learning to touch up your hair by yourself in between cuts is well worth it.

Easy to do a mowhawk style on the sides with good lighting, mirrors, and slow steady hand. As mentioned the neckline is the hardest to get a straight line or v.

Just get a buzzer put on guard of like 8 or lower and go all around your head. Its not fancy but looks nice and neat. After trying it, you'll never pay for a haircut again.

Tried to do the fade...looked like a Nazi with an extra fuking cromossome. Conclusion: I'm rocking a buzz cut now.

I forgot how this **** doesn't suit me at all. Guess I will have to start my 4 months celibate (until this **** grows back).

I never looked so manly in my entire life. The thing is... its not a "I look so manly I may steal your girl" type of manly. Is a "I look so manly I may kidnap your kid" type of manly.

How am I going to work tomorrow looking like this ****???????

Well, at least I can grow a beard.

P.S. Lul, just found out I have light brown hair. (Thought it was dark brown).

In on rep pool for pics.

OP: It takes good mirrors, like one of the triple mirrors.

It's also really only possible for a few haircuts.

On top, I start with an 8 all over, then 7, 6, and 5 fade to the back.
On the sides and back, I start with no guard, taking it up about halfway. Then I fade a little bit using a 0 guard, 1/2 guard, 1 guard, 1-1/2, 2, 3, 4, then 5.

The trick is getting it even in the back. Sides are easy. That's where the mirror comes into play.

Of course you can always just no guard it all over and rock the Neo look.

I was considering same path to be honest, just wanted to know what I was getting into lol. Haircut used to be a simple process, walk in sit down for 5 minutes, tell the old man what you want, and walk out 20 minutes later looking sharp. Now every place requires a fooking appointment, charges $40 plus tip, half the time looks a bit "off" for days....

Mentioned it to my wife one day and she went on and on about all the chit she wanted to try (layers, blah blah). All I want is short and neat, might just throw some clippers in her lap and tell her just to buzz this chit. Last time I got buzzed the "nazi" comments were endless tho.

Its looking EXACTLY like brad pitt on Mr and Mrs Smith right know. It was looking exactly like Jake Gylenhaal on the pic below.

The thing is... my jaw is not that wider. So... I am probably thinking about trying to go shorter on the sides (and hope I don't fuk it up again or I will end up looking like Andrew Tate but with a chin).

You don't need that much help for a buzz. Just go straight for it. It would be easier to have your wife adjust the back probably.
