One Of The Biggest Issues In Our Society Moving Forward: Food and Water (srs)

Of course things like illegal immigration, destroying the dollar and the economy as we know it, and creating a society of drugged up illiterate people are all major issues coming to fruition, but there is one that is really alarming right now.

Food quality has gone down the chitter. It is getting to the point of purely poisoning the public just to make sure their margins and profits stay high. Quality control seems to not even exist anymore.

We will not have a shortage of food. We will always have calories and food to eat. However our main issue will be a shortage of real nutritionally dense food like meat, eggs, good veggies and fruit, and whole foods not pumped full of 100 ingredients.

Even a few years ago when I started focusing on growing my own herbs and some vegetables and eating a lot more higher quality and local meat/eggs/veggies/dairy, it was merely just precautionary and to not be dependent on grocery stores.

I suggest slowly starting to ween off of or take caution of what exactly you buy these days and check ingredients. Everything is going to absolute chit. I can't eat out anymore besides maybe Culver's or Jimmy Johns. Everything else either tastes like **** or makes me feel like chit.

"On Sept. 15, the U.S. Department of Agriculture shared the news in a bulletin on its website. According to the federal agency, the recall will affect approximately 58,281 pounds of ground beef products. American Foods Group, based in Wisconsin, discovered that a sample batch of beef tested positive for Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). The products were produced on Aug. 14, 2023, and sent to Georgia, Michigan and Ohio wholesalers.

I travel a ton, and there is no doubt in my mind anymore that the food in the US is borderline poison at this stage.

You walk into stores in Europe or Asia where they are selling the same brands of chit like cereal, and the ingredients list is half the size. While we are not quite an India and China levels of disgusting, we are rapidly headed that way with profit driven megacorps killing our food industry to squeeze every little bit of margin they can out of the food they sell us.

The biggest issue facing humanity in the future is the sun and the weird sh*t it's gonna do.

This thread reminded me of that Netflix documentary expose I saw Poisoned. It was good overall, but a little bit on the agenda side. For instance they insisted it was bad that the USDA allows chickens to have e. coli and salmonella, and the govt solution is to tell consumers they just need to cook it thoroughly. In the expose they say chickens are given salmonella vaccines before they are slaughtered and maybe USA should follow suit. I don't know about anyone else but I would rather eat chicken with salmonella and e.coli and just cook it thoroughly, rather than have my food pumped with a ton of pharmaceuticals.

Of course there are plenty of improvements that can be made in our food -- and should be made as well. However there is a tradeoff a lot of people aren't seeing. I mean if you want your food to be completely rid of harmful bacteria and unsanitary conditions, how do you think we should mitigate it? Those bacteria come from the animals wallowing in their own ****.... but those animals literally **** where they eat. Guaranteed chickens are ****ting around while they are eating their chicken feed, and other chickens are eating each other's **** all the time. In order to have an environment that controls for that, it's going to cost a ton of money and that will obviously be passed onto the consumer, which nobody wants. Again at the end of the day you can cook that nasty **** out, anyways.

Obviously growing your own food is ideal and I think everyone should absolutely do that to the fullest extent.

Yes I've read Europe doesn't use a lot of the ingredients we use. I believe with soda they use real sugar and we still use high fructose corn syrup. Also Euro McNuggets have a fraction of the sodium US McNuggets have. Those are just two examples; I'm sure if we overhauled our system to be more like the European set a lot of "food" here wouldn't be available anymore.

It’s worse then you even think

All the stuff grown in greenhouses/hydroponics has almost no minerals

Everything is covered in glyphosphate

All the beef/meat/milk you eat or drink is ussually grain raised (grain also covered in glyphosphate)

Good food does exist it’s just extremely hard to find. As a farmer and also someone who values their health I am commited to raising everything as natural as possible/no vaccines, no synthetic fertilizers and no chemicals/pesticides.

Yup. It's amazing what the US is allowed to sell to the public that most of Europe has banned because they know specific ingredients are poisonous to us. Even pickles have dyes in them like yellow #5. My coworkers husband just got back from Italy and said that for the first time in his life he realized how fukked our food is compared to Europe. I guess he said he had no digestion issues, felt amazing and everything tasted fresh.

The other thing is that everything in the grocery store is old. I'll be forced to buy a few fresh things or vegetables and 2 days later they're rotted out. It's getting way worse.

Yea I still find good stuff at Whole Foods and Meijer. But overall the quality is getting worse. I think it will only get worse. Quality control in all aspects of life is getting worse so I can only imagine how much less workers will care in handling food, growing food, and what corners they will cut to just make profit.

I haven't watched that but I heard about that documentary and see that it's on Netflix. I can guarantee there is a lot of truth to it. I mean just buying eggs from the grocery store vs. the house down the street from me is such an absurd difference in color and quality that I don't even want to know how bad those chickens are eating and living haha.

I am about 80% food from alternate farm based sources and all dairy products are raw and from a farm, soy free eggs, etc. Never felt better in my life. So I suggest more people start to find alternate food sources and slowly integrate the best available quality of foods into their diet that they at least eat daily. The extra money is worth it.

This will at least drive demand up for more people to start homesteads, farmstands and co-ops. Otherwise you just become dependent on grocery stores who focus purely on profit and deals with companies focused on the same things.

Yup you definitely get it then. Years ago I became lactose intolerant out of nowhere. I can only handle a little bit of pasteurized cheese on burgers and cooked with stuff. Then I found raw milk cheese and eat it daily at this point with zero issue, drink raw milk daily and have zero issues and my mind keeps being blown by how bad food had gotten in terms of quality. It helps I learned to cook to.

I'm not even trying to be the alarmist and conspiracy theorist here, but I've never seen food quality this poor in my adult life. Grocery store vegetables have almost no taste. I eat bell peppers from my garden and you can smell those things from the other side of my apartment the moment it's cut. Grocery store herbs are all bad or go bad within 1 day. I couldn't even get rosemary the other day from a store because every single "organic" packaged rosemary was browned and old. The meat that isn't grass fed/grass finished in the grocery stores is starting to taste like water. The meaty flavor just isn't there. It's really weird.

I'm not full blown babygawick, but it feels like there's a concerted effort to nuke the quality of real food in grocery stores while also making it the most expensive. Can't wait for my cricket soup and fried grubs!

I saw something specific about this recently. Besides slow downs in shipping due to labor/transportation issues they said that a shortage of CO2 means that stuff is spoiling faster. They use is for preservation.

As I understood it processors will fill produce packaging w/CO2 instead of normal air to prolong shelf life, but they have been using less or maybe not doing this.

Processed food quality has noticeably declined...portion sizes, makeup of ingredients, taste/texture. In the 90s and early 00s there were several frozen entrees that were pretty good...Stouffer's stuffed peppers + roast turkey, LC Swedish meatballs + Salisbury steak, etc. Since around 2018 most are inedible. As in toss in the trash can't eat that bad. Same for a lot of fast food places.

Because you might have an interest I watched this recenlty.

It’s mostly avoidable. You shouldn’t be buying much from the grocery store anyways. Buy grass fed meat from you local farmer, you should already be supporting him and not your corporate chain. Grow your own produce and buy the rest from farmers markets. Some run all winter. Yes, your diet has to be seasonal if it can’t be stored

It has 55 ingredients. Did you not listen to that part? Instagram has a guy breaking it down better, and this guy focused on the wrong thing, but it was the only one on youtube. 55 ingredients for a sandwich lmao. Imagine choosing to eat that in 2023.

I'm not. No where in this thread have I indicated that I am.
