Any Miscers here quit drinking? (srs)

Another weekend with a phuked up hangover and the anxiety/dread is making me want the world to swallow me up while I hide in my bed.

Feels bad man.

I'm thinking of going sober, getting too old for this chit and the hangovers are getting worse even if it's only 1-2 times a month at the most.

The amount of money I would save, overall health benefits, getting to wake up feeling fresh etc.

Any of you brahs quit drinking and if so, what age did you do it and what were your reasons why?

The key is to commit yourself to not stopping at liquor stores or bars for about 2 good months, and to decline any alcohol along the way during those 2 months. Once you get over that, it gets a lot easier. The true physical addiction will only take a matter of weeks of get over for the most part, and it's all mental after that.

I switched to weed, I was drinking 8-12 shots a night to get to sleep but it took its toll on me eventually.

Not all of the way, but I've cut down my consumption and even have been taking days off.

It just doesn't do the same thing it used to. That usually leaves you with two options: Drink more and risk cirrhosis or stop and re-asses your relationship with it. I'm going with the latter.

Also hate to say it, but I'm gonna have to quit weed for a bit too for the same reason. Sober October Crew.

This.

Nothing wrong with going into for a fee and watching a game every blue moon. It's when you do it's every day or even 3 4 5 days a week that it's bad

Just quit about 2 years ago. Was drinking constantly at least 3-4 nights a week until really drunk. Did that for years and years, loved every bit of it too.

The reason I quit was my brother passed away and he had always had issues with drugs and homelessness and the like. he had been sober for 13 years. his health was terrible from all of that lifestyle so thats why he passed when he did.

Got me to thinking that I had never made it even one year sober and here he could do 13. I knew at my age and such that it was unreasonable to think i could continue drinking at that clip so i took up the challenge.

For me the hardest thing was I had associated my artwork, working out and everything with drinking. Clean the kitchen, thats a drinking event, clean the garage, need beer for that and so on. So now I had to unlearn all of that and do those things sober. For me that was the hardest adjustment.

I drink now but only when i go to vegas once or twice a year. Quite a bit difference from what it was before.

There's no reason to quit drinking, it's a really good time.

That being said, I've never had a problem with drinking. I drink to party and get drunk. But the number of times I drink nowadays before about 5PM during the day while not on vacation is zero.

I haven't been drunk in almost a year now. My Dr was prescribing me 4 ***** a day for almost 4 years. Quit those cold turkey too.

I feel much much better.

Just learn control. Don't fall into that it's a disease nonsense that's a cope out for weak people. And an insult to people who have real diseases.

Just do the right thing and live healthy. That's not saying you can't enjoy a couple brews a couple times a month if that brings you enjoyment. Life's too short . But if you are too weak to control ot and cap it off at that then abstinence is the only answer.

Quit drinking a few years ago.

If you are under the impression you should, you probably should have a long time ago.

Ded srs.

This is exactly why.

Quit at 35, the initial guilt of NOT drinking at gathering will go away after a while.
You'll realize that people don't care if you don't drink. They might think you're a former alcoholic or something lol, who cares though.
Your life will get better the day you stop drinking.
