I'm sure you can have a friendly pitbull with the right training, socialisation, owner staying on top of it etc. And it wouldn't surprise me if other dog breeds attack more (biting or just getting aggressive). The point is that a pitbull, once it's seen red, it's over. Someone's dying or getting sent to the hospital, and you just don't see the same thing happen in the same numbers with any other breed of dog.

And the key thing for me about people who defend pitbulls because they have one....why? What made them pick a dog known for it's violent nature in the first fcking place?

Brah, I feel you completely. In Murica, my next door neighbor (guess the race) owned a female pitbull and would breed her and then sell the pups. I felt bad for the dog, because it was mistreated and just used as a breeding stock without any affection.

Even so, I didn't like pitbulls, because they were vicious even without bad owners. Bull Terriers and Pitbulls have this dumb/evil look in their eyes that I never trusted. Back in the day, every time the commercial with the Target dog came on, I'd retreat into the couch and wonder how anyone didn't see how dangerous they were.

Personally, I'm against having any breed of dog inside the house. Build them a little dog house outside and keep them on a leash until you take them out for a walk. Westerners have a weird fascination with keeping pets inside the house, lol.

People like them because they are fun dogs and easy pets (*99.9% of them). They are extremely playful, affectionate, loyal, one of the healthiest breeds, usually not neurotic (e.g. like herding or protection dogs), and outwardly emotional - which is what gets them into trouble.

Also they are FREE. You don't have to know anyone or do any research or legwork at all. Walk into any shelter in the country and walk out with a pit bull who is ready to party for $0.

Pittbulls belong in Africa

Totally get the hate for pits but I owned one pit before and it was one of the nicest fookn dogs I've owned. It was tough to handle though because of its size when it dashes out the door. My neighbor had a pit and it was vicous.

Hard to say if its due to owner or simply genetics.
