Anyone here do kettlebell swings?

I was thinking about adding them in.

Where do you fit them in? Leg day? Back day? HIIT cardio?

Sets? Reps? Weight?

We use kettlebells quite a bit in my garage gym.

Typically on leg day. If you do them right, they'll light up your hamstrings. And if you get really proficient with them, they'll light up your lungs, too, because you can do hundreds of them.

My son was doing 200+ of them at the end of every workout when he was getting ready to go into the Marines.

He'd lift weights, then do 150-200+ consecutive swings (he built up to where he was doing the 45 for 150+ reps), and then go run a few miles. That was a typical workout four or five days per week. He was strong (front squatting two plates for reps, deadlifting 3 plates for reps) and in great condition when he went into boot camp.

If I'm feeling froggy, I'll do 3 sets of 15-25 with the 70 lb. KB every now and then to end a leg day.

I do them on the regular. Usually throw them in on leg day at the end of my workout. 4 sets of 15-20 with 40 lb.

Yep, I do them quite a bit. I often use swings as a cardio workout. The bell I use at home is a 35 pounder I got from Dick's Sporting Goods several years ago. I'd love to get some from Rogue like the gym I go to uses someday though.

I do them a decent amount.. Have a 35lber I'll do for like 3 sets of 30. Then jump up to my 53lb and do 3 or 4 sets of 15. Just have the two. Gets the body moving and fired up.

I do 15 swings with 35 lb and 20 swings with 65 lb to warm up for legs and deadlifts. Was one thing I implemented to strengthen my lower back after injury. Hard to say if I can credit swings alone, but my back feels stronger than ever and I'm not going to stop doing them. Just a warm up so I don't know if I'll go up in weight either. Don't care if I make gains at kettlebell swings.
