How did the flat earth conspiracy theory start?

Was in cuz some random retards posted some videos on youtube and other retards decided to believe it because they wanted to disagree with the official version?

Was the origin of it religious? Because all flat earthers seem to believe god.


Why? What happened?

Thats not how it works. You are the one with the "new/outside/contraditory theory" so you are the one that has to prove why the earth is not a geoid.

There's a documentary on it that talks about the psychology of Flat Earthers and it apparently boils down to inflated sense of self.
Basically they decide that, because they haven't personally seen the "proof", that it's a hoax.

Yeah but if there's a motive for the conspiracy theory, that is WAY MORE important than the facts of the conspiracy theory itself...

Like it's very easy to see why the election would have been stolen in 2020, or why 9/11 was an inside job....

Flat earth has no motive to explain why we are being lied to, so I never even tuned in.

I think they just want to prove that they know something people don't (i.e. they are smarter than others) which basically comes down to the inflated sense of self that you mentioned.

Exacly. I personally do not agree 9/11 was an inside job but at least I see how the government could profit over it. There is a motive at least.

But, as you said, when it comes to the earth not being round... it makes no sense.

I'm trying to find it. It also has a moment where some Flat Earthers spend like $50 grand setting up an experiment to prove that the Earth is flat only to basically see in real time that they were wrong. It's golden.

I would be satisfied if they could explain something basic like magnetic dip (without changing the entire magnetic field to prove their theory).

I got into it with a dude who DM'ed me on ******** because I laugh reacted to his stupid Flat Earth post in our local bulletin board.
Spent like a week going back and forth with him just to hear his explanations on things. He ended up blocking me when he sent me some weird infographic with a bunch of patents on it and I pointed out that all of the patent numbers lead to random **** like "Frog Hats".
