Stay At Home Mom's

What do they do all day? Washing machines have made everything easier. Then we got dishwashers.

Where's the hard part?

A proper stay at home mom would buy groceries and prepare 3 home cooked meals every day and do the cleaning associated with that. It's not intellectually challenging but it's definitely not an easy low effort job.

Cook
Errands
Take care of baby/kid(s)
Play with kid(s)
For me, my son was colicky so I basically walked/bounced/rocked him almost all day every day trying to get him to stop screaming until he was about 6 months old. Then the teething starts. Fun times.
Play groups
Activities like swimming/swimming lessons /Gymboree
Dr appts
Dentist appts

When they're in school-
take to sports practices/activities
Volunteer at the school/in classroom
Drop off and pick up from school-school hours are very different from work hours. My son went to private school so there were no buses.
Help with homework

I'm sure I'm forgetting something as that was years ago.

If you have kids, a stay at home mom is a godsend. Literally running kids two and from sports, school, doc appts, getting groceries, meds, running general errands, and keeping groceries in the house. Basically everything i hated to do when i was a single man, the wife does now. No more laundry, no more cooking, no more BS unless i want to do it. I just have to keep the bank accounts full. It's a great trade off if you truly have a 1950's style woman.

If you can afford it why would you complain about someone who stays home and takes care of everything involved with running the house? If the spouse is at home just twiddling their thumbs, sure not a great situation, but if you have kids then its the best way to do things

Stay at home parents have it easy. It’s like working on call, and when things are caught up, you can do whatever.

You’re not cleaning the home 24/7. Clean the home, keep it clean.

I made home cooked meals from scratch. It isn’t that hard.

Dropping off/picking up at bus stops, literally 30 minutes total of out of the day.

Dropping kids off at afterschool sports a couple times a week. Stay and enjoy the park, walk the dog, read, etc.

Helping young kids with homework is actually fun. Once they get older, they do more independent learning.

The on call part is when you have an emergency pickup if the kid gets sick at school, dr/dentist Appointments once in a while. Etc.

Lived it as a stay at home dad when I took vacations. Was a joy and relaxing. No deadlines, no Mr. Noseberg breathing down your neck, no chitty commute, etc

COOKING:

6 days - Light maintenance (30-minutes/day)

LAUNDRY:
1-day week. Who the heck does laundry everyday? Throwing 4 outfits in a washing machine is a waste.

GROCERY SHOP:
MAYBE once a week. Sometimes Once every 2 weeks if you have a deep freezer and know how to cook

KIDS:
Drop off/Pick up - 30 minutes 5days week
Afterschool sports 2-3 times a week. It's like dropping them off at the baby sitter at the park. Enjoy it.
Homework - 30min-1hr/day FUN when they are young
School projects are once or twice a semester. Most of it is easy. You are an adult. They aren't recreating the manhatten project.

Also, scheduling all doctor's appointments, home repairs, car service, and everything else that's only open during normal working hours. I spent years convincing my wife to stop working because once you have multiple kids, it really is a full time job just to run the family, and it was stressing both of us out to try to work and get everything done that we needed to get done.

Most of them are worthless...Loads of Tik Toks of SAHMs jumping up and acting like they are busy when their husbands pull in the drive. Comment section on these Tiks Toks are thousands of women stating they do nothing every day but shop Amazon...

With that said my mom was a SAHM. Im older and that means she was from a much different generation. She worked her fingers to the bone. We had three hot meals, clean clothes and a clean house. Even our underwear was ironed..We wanted for nothing. .she worked hard for her money (srs).

I like how misc makes things seem so easy. Like the average man is making enough to provide for a family of 4. Those days are long gone. You need $200k to provide for a family and last I checked most young men aren't anywhere near $200k.

sounds like my grandmother...she was even making clothes, quilts, curtains and such for the family. didn't drive either because it was pretty common for ladies not to drive back in her day

Made breakfast and dinner. Started as soon as I walked in the door. 100% meals from scratch, microwave was used just for re-heating leftovers.

Only time we ate out was Girl Scout's night (once a week) with their troop after work. Gues who drove them? Me. 100% of the time.

Grocery shopped on the weekends because I was the cook, and knew what to buy.

I did my own laundry because I like it a certain way.

Drove the kids around on weekends to events.

You either have no kids, or you did it wrong.
