Because in order for the entire flat earth theory to be plausible, the answer has to be an obvious yes. So I wanna know their explanation, because I am sure that if the answer is no, they have a theory for the fact that the distance between 70ºN XXXºW and 70ºN XXXºE is shorter than the distance between 70ºS XXXºW and 70ºS XXXºE.

Exactly. Those lines wouldn't. But on the globe that distance would be represented by equal lines.

In reality the departure (distance) between XXXºW and XXXºE is the same in both hemispheres (otherwise navigation systems wouldn't work, for example). Which means that map doesn't represent reality (thats a polar azimuthal projection which means it is distorted everywhere but the pole).

There is no flath earth map that works irl, however, they all seem to use those projections as the "real model".

Unfortunately not. I haven’t been on ******** since like 2016, but back then I knew a guy in his 50’s who legit though the Earth is flat.

It didn't. It just showed that they are full of bull**** (they are showing a "map"/model based on a distorted projection from the globe model). They never showed a model (either 2D or 3D) that works.

That distance would be the same if it was a geoid (lines are a representation of the departure between two longitudes on a given latitude, in both hemispheres ... on the FE model).

If those distances are not the same, this means the distance between the same meridians are not the same depending on if you are at 70N or 70S.

This is not possible because in real life those distances are the same.

Yeah you’re right OP. Curious if flat earthers have some proof for this one. I bet they could come up with some incredibly distorted, oddly-shaped flat planet or something.

They don't have an explanation. In flat earth model, a flight between southern hemisphere continents would take 30-40 hours, not the 12-13 it actually takes on flights that people are on every day. Have heard the flat earthers just say those flights aren't real though.
