In all honesty, that is cope for those too scared to break it off.

While I don't want it myself, it does seem to be a rather important thing for the stability of a society (that and nuclear family).

Of course, in clown world, there's now all kinds of factors working against marriages lasting/being successful so in that regard...an argument can be made for it being "stupid". Also, yes, being locked down with one woman for the rest of your life doesn't sound incredibly desirable, but I don't think that alone is a good reason to label it "stupid".

There's zero way to guarantee loyalty from a woman. If you wound up down on your luck for a few months out of a job or something, the odds of her filing for divorce at some point skyrocket no matter who she is. You'll also never really know how loyal they truly are. Women are incredibly good at covering up/hiding cheating. Why? Because they're great at convincing themselves it wasn't wrong for whatever laundry list of cope reasons. Since they convince themselves it was no big deal, it makes it a lot easier for them to carry on without spilling the beans. Most won't admit to it unless they are caught red handed in the act, srs.

I'm not saying not to be serious with a woman and hope for the best. What I am saying is, stop spreading the myth that you can guarantee success by "just finding a loyal woman". It's never that simple, bud.

To me, staying together isn't enough for me to consider a marriage successful. I think if you look at couples that still love each other 20 and 30 years on, I think you will find that almost all have a good sex life with each other. Admittedly, though, sex life is not something that I ever talk about with other couples.
