Joining a union was the best thing I did in the last 6 months (srs)

I'm an office wagie who was invited by a colleague to join a union after losing some of our performance bonuses and a pay rise we were promised 2 years ago had still not happened.

Upper management said it was due to rising costs of the business from inflation and other excuses despite record profits and the stock price consistently increasing.

Wages for mutiple top level managers and directors were leaked, they had all made 20-30% average yearly wage gains for BOTH years, not including the gains from any stocks/shares they were given as a bonus.

Support grew massively after the leaks and many of us are have officially joined the union, making up a significant part of the workforce.

Received confirmation today that some of our demands have been met:

We will be receiving a $500-1000 performance bonus each year based on hitting/exceeding targets

A 5% wage increase in 2024 and a further 5% in 2025 (we asked for 15% this year)

Free pizza party on the last Friday of every month

Tell me again why a bunch of Miscers are still anti-union?

I used to be a part of a union. It's probably one of the biggest modern scams in the job market. They revolutionized the labor market, but now they're way outdated and a nuisance. (Super Ded fkn Srs)

I think that changed with what we've been experiencing, labour upheaval tends to accompany periods of crazy high inflation etc

Just waiting for more US groups to unionize amid all this

Unionized American factory workers are probably some of THE most entitled group of human beings that ever existed in the history of humanity. And I'm being 99.9999% serious.

Dont get me started on those fukkers being appointed as a foreman, because their uncle is someone in the union and they dont know sh!t. My last straw with the union was seeing them allow all these felons and meth heads in, when it's supposed to be a "brotherhood" of high ethics and morals. (Super Ded fkn Srs)

The alternative was nothing and paying for pizza parties while the top ranks give themselves 30% wage increases again

Because they can just give themselves the money for another yacht, instead of the workers reaching agreed targets after promising wage increases for multiple years

We just wanted a fairer share of the pie, the companies value grew massively (and continues to) which was reflected in the stock price, yet there's supposedly no money to be had for us until wages were leaked and massives bonuses were going elsewhere

Most workers are getting phukked with their pants down

My bro was a member of a union and at first he thought it was great until he saw that his value as an employee was meaningless. He could bust his ass but when lay offs came the dude that had marginal attendance, was a chitty employee, and had low production was safer than he was because he started his job a week sooner. By the end he was anti-union, and I think most non-smooth brains end up that way by the end.
