Am I losing it?

I turned 39 this August. With every passing year I suspect I am getting more surly and less patient when it comes to mundane ****.

For example when someone says something stupid, in the past my first thought would be "well that's not right...". Now my first thought is "you stupid mfer".

Old lady struggling with her debit at the checkout? "You gotta be fukking kidding me".

At the rate I'm going I fear I will legit become one of those curmudgeons you see glaring at noisy children in a waiting room.

More often than not I think to myself "brah are you kidding me? Grow the phuk up". That used to be most of the time.

I just phukkin go with it sometimes nowadays and start taking inventory of all the petty fkn pet peeves that drive me nuts and before you know it I'm thinking "let the fkn nukes go alrdy!"

Then there is second guessing the spelling of common fkn words randomly and I feel like I am getting retarded.

Can anyone else relate?
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Sounds like a classic condition of "Fed up". Understandable and relatable, especially in 2023.

What about the spelling of words though? Sometimes I hesitate "is recommend cc or mm?". Have done it multiple times like the **** won't stick anymore. Sometimes I think "fk early onset alzheimers" (had to dbl check the spelling of that btw).

I've been down that road a few times and I find it's because I surround myself with negative bull****. Negativity becomes the norm if you let it, then everything bothers you since you need that hit, I guess. If I start pursuing more meaningful things in my day then I tend to let a lot of stupid **** slide. Just my experience.

holy **** been there for a few years now. Even basic "I before E except after C" rules get lost on me, on occasion. I've had to look up common fcking words in the dictionary from time to time to make sure I'm spelling them correctly. No idea wheretf that comes from but I have it

It's a a trip.

Sometimes I walk into a room think "what did I come in here for?"

Then i realize I didn't go into that room for anything and I leave with nothing.

I’ve never not been that way. I’ve really been trying to work on it, but every time I go to the grocery store I’m reminded I can’t change.

People walking incredibly slowly in the middle of the aisle, people parking their carts sideways and then just standing there looking at the shelves for five minutes, people unable to scan their own items at the self checkout…

I guess what I mean to say is it doesn’t get better from here. You realize people are either stupid, have zero courtesy for others around them, or both. And it gets worse every year.

I honestly thought I was alone in this spelling thing. I'm mid 30s and thought it was just me, spelling and vocabulary have always been 2nd nature to me until recently, now I'm always second guessing myself and feeling stupid. I feel safe here.
