All Things Being Equal We Are Already There
They tell us that the jobs number is good, but don't say that full time jobs are down, while the new jobs are part time and mostly working for the government. Retail sales numbers came in strong, don't think about the fact that the same amount of stuff is being sold [or less] and it is just that the prices are higher.
A comparison of present economic conditions to 1930.
Cliffs:
If you only calculated using a straight inflation factor comparing 1930 to the present:
- in 1930 the average home was $3,9000- going by inflation the average home would now be $71,000 but in reality the average is $416,000
- for food if you were to purchase $100 in food in 1930 it could feed a family for 6 months- that would be equivalent to $2,059 today and would perhaps last an average family for 3 months
- in 1930 gasoline was 10 cents a gallon- based on inflation that would be $1.73 today, but the national average is $3.55
- a car was an unusual purchase in 1930, but if you had one the average was $860 which should translate to $15,000 however the current average is $48,000
- the average income in 1930 was $4,800 which today would translate to $85,000, but the real average is $56,000
And sure, houses on average were smaller, but you couldn't touch the average home prices even if you double or triple that number.

You're 100% right. Career jobs are way down. The entire jobs report is propped up by bullsh*t retail jobs.
You go on any job site and start searching for any range of keywords and all you'll see is a bunch of ghost jobs posted up being recycled over and over. Recruiters aren't reaching out like they used to either because there's no one actually hiring sh*t.

I been noticing for years now that the job situation is mostly bullchit. There’s a reason why the anti work subreddit is growing like wildfire.
Having said that, I think that ”work” - in it’s most fundamental sense - is important and good for the soul. My issues are mostly with modern day work, i.e. “jobs”, and the format/conditions/compensation they entail.

Would like to remind everyone they released Covid and used ubi equivalent / ppp payouts to kick the can for Wall Street and capitalize consumers since normal economic conditions could no longer do so.
I would expect a similar type event by February of next year. Either war / electric grid failure / immigration crisis / another virus.
Doesn’t matter which major event they can blow up, they need the disaster to cover for the recovery which handles the capitalization of consumers without people realizing they are using it to avoid “systemically important” investors who used algorithms to make a joke out of the stock market and leveraged it into an unimaginably bad position by human standards, but don’t worry the algorithm sees an out “at the expense of everyone else”. Capitalism really has ended up in the same place communism ends up much quicker. Corrupt human nature has compromised and broken it.

More importantly, in our society people do not satisfy their biological needs AUTONOMOUSLY but by functioning as parts of an immense social machine. In contrast, people generally have a great deal of autonomy in pursuing their surrogate activities.“I been noticing for years now that the job situation is mostly bullchit. Just heard that Janet Yellen made a statement that the US government can not afford the interest on our debt at the current interest rate. Watched a video last night which looked atour government spending rate- $2.2T per year for the last 3+ years however in the last 134 days since the debt ceiling was set aside the burn rate as increased to $5T a year.
I think we will see some sort of crisis either to kick the can one more time or to roll out a new monetary system.

I had tried to get a taxi for 45 minutes, just voicemails and online requests.

Here is the government debt video-
Funny and true...did a search for the statement by Janet Yellen and the results focus on the high interest rate being "manageable for now" and that the "US economy is in a good place".

To arrive at Yellen’s 1% figure, assuming debt grows at the rate of GDP, interest rates must be much lower.
In time, a weighted average interest rate of 0.85% would put the nation’s interest expense at 1% of GDP.
When Janet Yellen tells us the debt cost to GDP ratio will be 1% over the next ten years, she is really saying interest rates will be below 1% for the next ten years.
Part of Janet Yellen’s job is to exude confidence to its investors. In this case, it means telling the public that the current jump in interest expenses will not last. While she would probably prefer to be straightforward and say interest rates will be much lower, she must also be sympathetic to the Fed’s job of getting inflation down. Therefore, to walk the party line, she must speak in code, so to speak.
Whether you agree with Yellen’s projection or not, the following CBO graph projecting interest costs as a percentage of tax revenues, courtesy of Bianco Research, highlights that the government has no choice but lower for longer interest rates. The current level of interest rates will bankrupt the nation.

Rates have to come down. Historically there is an officially recognized recession within an average of 11 months of rate cuts beginning. In time, a weighted average interest rate of 0.85% would put the nation’s interest expense at 1% of GDP.

M1 money supply quintuples over night, alongside a low gini coefficient, and bam. It’s no wonder why it feels like the lower middle class is feeling choked out so aggressively.
