Considering a "No Carbs" 2024... is this unhealthy?

Title.

I know technically even eggs have a tiny bit of carbs in them, so I'm not trying to be a dietary wizard scientologist or anything. But I mean, no: rice, bread, candy, sugar, tortillas, dough, fruits, potatoes, oats, nuts, etc.

Basically just a diet centered around chicken, steak, eggs, beef, cheese, pork, maybe some greek yogurt.

What are the ramifications of a severe malnourishment in carbs?

its not too hard , the hard part is limiting the purine content to avoid the gout...

so track proteins , use eggs for a lot of it, and use a high amount of fat for enough calories.

the hard part is you don't need so much volume of food and you will be hungry AF......

I did that for twice. I loved it. I was hardly hungry, lost weight like a champ, my skin and hair was so shiny and soft from all the healthy fats. And it’s cheap for instance I could eat a chicken wing, a few olives and nuts and be full all day, like 6 bucks a day.

Its not that unhealthy if you do it right. A lot of people do well with carnivore diet. But it comes down to the individual. I've done very low carb long term a few times. It sucks for the first couple weeks but gets easier the longer you do it. Probably won't do it again because i like the gym performance I get from carbs.

Any stomach issues? Ive read that pulling all grains from your diet might require pre/probiotics.

I've gone extremely low carb, around 50g or so. +1 on olives. Hated olives until I went low carb and now I love them. Mushrooms, leafy veggies, power slaw (my own recipe), sunflower seeds...

Honestly though, its really just a modified Atkins diet.

carbs feed good bacteria in your gut. whether it's in 2 or 5 years, you're gonna run into a issue. Short term I don't think it's a issue if you wanna get cheekbones for a work photo

Your gut needs prebiotics, probiotics, and fiber. I wouldn't cut those out unless you have a Havoc tier iron gut.

Seems like every study that comes out points to the gut being the epicenter of your overall health.

Sounds a bit extreme tbh. Why not just reduce carbs, especially starchy carbs?

Can’t see any decent reason to remove fruit from your diet. Maybe fruit juices, but getting rid of fruit just seems dumb.

I've been low carb for a bit over 20 years with many meals that were 100% meat or eggs for a week or more at a time and I've never had any gut issues and I'm around the same weight as I was back then .

I have done it before with success but there are some serious downsides.
Lowering your processed carbs is a great idea but removing all carbs is not.

1- cramps, sore muscles and the like. You have to keep your electrolytes in balance, if you dont you will get sore muscles all over that dont go away. Its hard to get this right.

2- its a pain in the ass to figure everything out and its expensive. Think about lunch today, You normally would have say a sandwich and some chips. Now take away the bread and chips and what are you left with? A piece of bologna with mustard? Thats not lunch for a grown man.

3- Its really unnatural. There was never a time in out evolutionary past when we ate nothing but meat and protein. Look at tribesmen in south america today who live in the jungle full of animals. They value protein because they dont get a lot of it. its not laziness its just hard for them to get even with their level of hunting skills.

When you see a bowl of fruit and cant have a piece because its somehow not "healthy" something is not right.

If you want a healthy way to get your diet under control, eat like grandad did back on the farm. he ate three home cooked square meals a day and it was plenty to fuel him working outside on a farm all day every day.

So essentially you wanna do Carnivore? I got ripped to absolute shreds doing carnivore, but, my lifts completely tanked. Make sure you eat small servings of liver... .5 ounces daily should be fine.

Having said that, after I reintroduced fruits and honey I felt incredible, so that might be a better route for you long term.

I need at least a bowl of oatmeal or a cup of rice to feel okay during the day but have meals where I skip carbs altogether too

I couldn't do the carnivore diet, felt like crap and was still hungry all the time. I can cut out processed carbs just fine though. Basically just used taters, green veggies and corn for carbs, occasionally rice if I went to Chipotle or something. Lost a ton of weight and felt amazing. Started it again yesterday, got really un-disciplined over summer. Always merlin the people that can cut out carbs completely.

I wouldn't do NO Carbs........look into cycling and re-feeds.

At one point in my life I was doing like 10-20g/day of carbs then on Friday or Saturday I would eat like 200-300g then drop back to 10-20g/day. Was doing IF too.....ended up getting down to about 11-12% bf (from 22%) and got considerably stronger over that period of time too.

For a short period of time to cut quick it’s fine, 6-8 weeks maybe. But you shouldn’t cut carbs long term IMO

There is nothing unhealthy about limited carbs or no carbs. It is not a necessary nutrient. I would still have carbohydrate foods in the form of nutrient dense foods like some fruits, honey etc and just eliminate processed carbs and even most commercially processed grains etc.

I did 2 years strict keto...I felt the best I've ever felt.

Mental clarity was out of this world
Brain fog gone
no need to cut
Bloating gone
Insane levels of energy

Unfortunately Im prone to kidney stones and I got a couple of kidney stones from it so I had to opt out. I had been kidney stone free for an entire decade before starting Keto. I would be doing it to this day if it wasnt that...

Try it, and see if it works for you. Every individual is different, I think the hardest part about really any diet is the social aspect...
Do your own research instead of trusting randos on the internet, I don't think the body needs carbs to survive.
