Really, isthat what would it take for these useless politicians to get such a simple thing done already?

Sunshine Protection Act
Where we are now
Both the House and Senate versions of the Sunshine Protection Act of 2023 haven’t appeared to go far. The Senate bill has been read twice and referred to a committee, while the House bill has only been referred to a subcommittee.
What is the status of state-level policy changes?
More than two dozen states have considered legislation about daylight saving time in 2023 but have yet to pass new laws.

Various laws have been proposed, and some states even have competing legislation. Examples of proposed policy changes include:
[ul]
  • Enacting permanent standard time

  • Enacting permanent daylight saving time contingent upon a change in federal law that permits such a policy

  • Creating a statewide referendum about daylight saving time

  • Commissioning a study to examine the impacts of permanent standard time or daylight saving time

  • [ul]Although many bills have been introduced, none have been fully approved. Permanent daylight saving time passed the state Senate in Oklahoma and the state House in Texas. However, the legislation remains pending in both states because it has not passed the other legislative chamber.

New clock change legislation was voted down recently in Idaho, Kentucky, Arkansas, Connecticut, Nebraska, Maine, Maryland, New Mexico, Virginia, and Wyoming.
Seriously, I just don't care at this point, pick one time standard and tell people to shut the hell up. Go to work earlier/later, whatever. Screw the damn kids, they're too stupid to pick one gender, so the last thing they need is a fluid understanding oftime. Just shut up and pick one.

Maybe stick it in the middle by 30 minutes. I don't care. These bureaucrats are bloody useless forbasic thingsthat aren't racking up the deficit simping for some other country.

Having lived where they had it and also where they didn't, daylight savings is fcking awesome.

Screw having the sun be up at 4 in the morning. Got plenty of time in the evening to do sht like mow lawns and general work and just chill before it's dark. 10/10.

If they get rid of daylight savings there will be a lot more bitching from everyone becoming miserable eventually. Through most of human history people adjusted to seasons using daylight savings naturally by just waking up with the sun. Since that isnt an option for us post industrial wage-slaves, we fall back and spring forward instead.

The cynic in me is half convinced they only keep it around just to fukk with us.

While I actually love the fall/winter, it's like the one surefire way to make it dismal.

Yeah, it's pretty much a win the vast majority of the year because having sunlight in the evening is actually nice and productive.

Plus as rectifryer said, you wind up with people leaving work and it's already nightfall - for the majority people after they already spent all day inside working (or even in school if we're going to still go by the "think of the children" considerations).
