Do you guys prefer StackExchange or Reddit for science/computer question help?

I find Reddit better than almost every imaginable way.

For example, suppose I have a chemistry question, I can choose between

Reddit Chemistry pages, or Chemistry.StackExchange.

Or a computer programming question, between a Reddit CS page, or SoftwareEngineering.StackExchange.

More helpful people on Reddit. Almost always on StackExchange people vote to shut your question down, or point out the flaws in your question, without giving you any help.

Never used Reddit when I was in college, but StackExchange was full of the most pretentious fuks. You ask a general conceptual question that would not even hint at having them give you any code, and you'll get a bunch of replies going "we're NOT going to do your homework for you" etc

I’m glad that SE is the way that it is but I always direct normies to Reddit. I say that as someone who is on the other end and regularly helps people on Reddit. The casual nature certainly lowers the quality of both questions and answers, but it is overall solid.

You get tons of repeat questions because people don’t ever check for FAQs or even Google first. You also get lots of brainlets who post homework questions without showing any attempt of their own. That’ll get your post removed just like on SE, though.
