Considering the comp happened amidst this whole ongoing israeli-palestinian conflict/war. Hadi Choopan (iranian muslim) lost to Derek Lunsford (good ole ‘murican white native).

Derek looked great, but I really don't think he wasthatmuch better to dethrone the current champ. You should have to come with significantly better package to take down the reigning champ. Not match him. Derek def beat him from the back, but Hadi mogged the other poses imo + conditioning

Agreed, Derek's back shot from head to toe blew all of them out of the water. There are those shows, (yes it does happen) where he won it from the back.

Lunsford taking that show over Hadi was a fuking joke

Hadi rekt him from every angle - but can't speak fluent English, so he's a less than ideal ambassador for a sport that appeals to the English speaking world

No. Its not like the Mr O divisions are always dominated by white guys. It's typically the opposite. Cbum is the only white guy who's been dominating his division. And aint nobody claiming he's receiving special treatment. He just dominates.


You might be thinking of some kind of 'nationalistic' reason for picking Derek. Which is possible. But at the end of the day its hard to claim that Hadi got robbed. It was close, very close. Hadi has better conditioning. However Derek's structure looks better IMO.

Agreed. I personally think Derek is more aesthetic then Hadi.

However Hadi's conditioning and consistency is just spot on every single year.

When I actually listen to podcasts such as RX Muscle, people who are experts in the sport, all say he deserved it. They also claim that seeing it in person and on video are two completely different things and that Derek was way more shredded in person and Hadi was holding too much water. They argue that on video you can't see the details that made Derek stand out from Hadi. (Super Ded fkn Srs)

hard to tell from only a front double bi, but from that pic alone looks like hadi is ahead on everything except lats.

tbh hadi's pose is terrible. He's crumpled together while the left guy is open and wide. Anyway, that's just one pic
